Saw this ad. Thoughts?

While some of you fucking twats have been busy assuming, speculating, rushing to judgement, and generally talking shit, I gave Cory's Tree Service a call and talked to the man himself. As I suspected Cory is just a hard working small tree service owner earning a living, paying his bills, keeping the lights on, and feeding his kids. He also made it very clear that the chipper WAS NOT RUNNING when his wife took the photo in question. OOPS?

@rico It's not an oops. You didn't manage to bait us into committing to saying that the chipper was running. You tried and we didn't. You talked a gallon of shit. It still appears horrible.

Good work on reaching out. I sure as hell didn't want to.

Teach young children not to take candy from strangers;
but then played backwards don't be best intentioned stranger disarming this lesson w/free sweets is a consideration (outta Halloween season at least).
.
i think 'the kid' is meant to express family heritage of tree service passing down again perhaps; but should be shown differently to that point like real work dragging up hill even for ad at least. Not with chipper nor saw etc. Maybe even just in hardhat and googles intensely watching actually; any more than pic should be further more extended onto sales floor next to chipper. Just simply other ways can espress is family biz w/o disarming the sense that that is nowhere for a minor, or even many a-dolts to be. If only not to have OSHA type or other insurance problems conjured; especially in many types of future litigation scenarios. If isn't on is even greater betrayl of this type disarming but not risking own?
.
Can say it is their right to do and put forth, but perhaps higher consideration is in order in these highest risk regions. Similarly would be best if unsupervised child was not imaged out with gun, even if it was empty: unless making haunting safety point or threat in itself.

So we have gone from child endangerment, an embarrassment to the arb industry, punching the owner of Cory's Tree Service in the nose, child labor laws, to talk of impropriety's. All because of a photo of a boy standing in front of a non-operating chipper. Now thats embarrassing!

Speaking of buckets of shit, these are your word buddy- "If we're being real, no one stages brush on the chipper prior to turning it on, right? This is really bad." Shit-talking TreeBuzz BoBo 2019

Its crystal fucking clear what your feelings were as to whether the chipper was running or not. Quit being a side-stepping dishonest little twat and own that shit. I shudder to think that you were seriously contemplating the idea of dropping a dime on these unsuspecting, undeserving folks without having the facts. Hopefully you will take pause the next time you find yourself in a similar situation?

Cory and his wife just called me to thank me for the heads up. They were very surprised to see themselves being talked about on some tree forum.. We chatted for 5-10 minutes about the nonsense concerning the photo. As I suspected they were on a lunch break and their son grabbed a little duff and put it in the chipper chute to imitate the old man. Mom caught it on camera and they posted it to show what a family owned business looks like. Real nice folks. Working hard, home schooling kids, and getting by.

It appears that the OP is a local competitor who works in their area. Go figure?

Whose idea was it to publicize the picture on their business website?

If he wanted to trigger responsible parents into outrage?

He did a helluva job!

My ten year old chips brush with no safety gear folks!

Hire me!

Do you live in a world where a picture of a boy in front of a NON OPERATING chipper is considered "irresponsible parenting" and worthy of "punching someone in the nose"? Fucking ridiculous...

Posting a picture that gives the appearance of a ten year old chipping with no safety gear, on your business website's criminally fuggin stupid, IMHO Rico my friend.

You actually believe this bud? Sure as shit hope not 'cause it aint the truth. That is not "straightened out" for the wife and kids, just in the minds of the guys getting jollies beating the guy. I would too, but for enjoyment not fixing the problem. Too close to home homie.
Nothing is much closer for me.
When the people in a community rely upon each other, being ostracized is a harsh sentence.
I'm also from a fairly rural part of the south, so there are still vestiges of community, obligation to know and help your neighbors, and doing the right thing just because it is right, not to brag about it on social media.

Just so you know, rico, I was saying that it's not my business, and if he was doing anything wrong, it was probably the obligation of someone else to tell him about it. Nobody should be calling fucking DHS over that picture.

I received your intent and feelings on the matter loud and clear Mr. Witty. Your posts have been a beacon of truth in this fucking ridiculous thread. Dropping a dime to DHS because of this photo? Chickenshit maneuver!

The dude's already stated it's a misunderstood photo of junior puttin brush on the feed table of a woodchipper that's not running.

So rather than any noses being punched, a few laughs and a few beers after the work's done'd be called for.

The pertinent question's whether the innocent picture's still up n creating misunderstandings?

There ya' go. A happy ending!

IN case you didn't know bro?

Woodchipper safety's a touchy subject with me.

Having testified in multiple woodchipper fatality court cases, and seeing the accident scene photos of dismembered groundmen who didn't make it home that day.

My presence in court was related to patents I held for woodchipper safety mechanisms, and over thirty years experience running demolition removal crews as a climbing foreman, that utilized the very whole tree chippers involved in the vast bulk of chipper fatalities.

I'm confident your experience n reflexes'll suffice to see yu home Rico.

But I've been firsthand witness to a BC1800 come within inches of eating a 250 lb muscle bound amateur groundie, despite being told to just drag, not chip, on his very first day on the job, as a fill in temp.

Thank god for auto feed delay!

The feed wheels had him by the knee, just as my lead groundie finished his sprint to reach the reverse bar.

A few stitches saw the big boy home.

I'm a big proponent of two man minimum rules when hand feeding big chippers.

There is no way that I could disagree with you there. They're incredibly powerful machines, and even an un-zippered pocket could kill you without someone on the safety bar.

I get that chipper safety is a big deal. The consequences of irresponsible use and errors are huge. But the strength of feelings expressed on this thread do not seem to accord with actual danger to the kid or the significance of the photo. I mean, if I took a photo of my pre-teen kid in the car at the wheel, would that be irresponsible of me? My kids have a greater chance of death or injury from a car than a chipper.
