saw for hire tv show?

Couple of years ago, while fueling-up in Wayzata, MN, there was a tree outfit topping their tanks too - they had new equipment and all the bells/whistles. I wandered over to chat, ask them if they were on "The Buzz", what they're busy on (Dutched elms) and how's work?

The owner said he doesn't mix with other tree people..."We just do our work" and that was it. Gone.

I can see where the industry, as a whole, isn't tight. I wrongly thought that because this was in MN, there would'nt
have been that type of distance from other companies or industry people, especially in light of disease epidemics and statewide coordination of efforts to address it. Texas has compounded efforts as well, but nothing tight here either. It's a cowboy effect I feel and supplemented by the independent work ethic of us independents. Not sure if it's a bad thing but this Tulsa character with the cable t.v. show exemplifies it.

In short, the sky-high liability rates are directly connected to yahoos like him.

We are finalizing a project that promotes companies and arborists who adhere to strict ANSI standards.

I for one say please no more self proclaimed TV shows, even if it is above standards. Make it, and sell it to ISA or TCIA. Tree work aint like this old house, besides that guy was a donut maker before that show. Hopfully someday the Government will step in and make all have a lic. This way all owners will be at the same level. Hopfully with crane use this will come faster, and we wont have to see all the joe blows with the most doe using them.

UUmmmm seems all the letters back fired guys. Fact all I think it did was boost his ratings to the director. (Copy and paste from another site.)

Here's the reply from the TV station:

That is a form letter that is sent to anyone that has written HR. It was posted earlier. Discovery may just reconsider their commitment to the show if the proper tact is taken with them.

Oakwilt, it's called the silo effect and is seen in all types of industries and even within companies. Communications and sharing of information is done reluctantly. Fear of the competition gaining an advantage is often the issue but at times it is fear of being revealed as less than competent at your job. This is why we need to be getting out to conferences and trade shows to meet with our peers and share ideas. Within the company itself to have the production people talk meet with the admin staff to discuss issues and learn about how each persons job plays in the overall scheme of things.

What I think is crazy is that what looks to be a fairly educated woman doesn't get the creepy crawly feeling while talking to this joker...and decide to go with the much nicer, more educated Certified Arborist who doesn't have last nights buffalo wings on his shirt. I would not hire that guy. I would hire me!

Today I got an email from Dr. Rich Hauer who is a prof. in Urban Forestry at U of Wisc-Stevens Point. He talked about the show with his students and was told that the show had been cancelled. This may be wishful thinking...we can only hope!

The review of S4H:

Parents need to know that the owner of the tree service company spotlighted in this reality series overshadows any educational content with his fiery temperament and self-absorption. He routinely lashes out at his crew with strong language (mostly "hell" and "damn," with stronger choices bleeped) and disrespectful comments, and every cast member degrades co-workers in individual confessionals with the camera. In other words, this show isn’t meant for kids, and there aren't enough redeeming qualities to make it anything but a guilty pleasure for older viewers.

Families can talk about fame. Why do some people so badly want to be famous? How do you think celebrities feel about their star status once they attain it? What are some of the benefits of being famous? What are the drawbacks? Why does our society revere stardom so much? Why do we not assign the same status to doctors, firefighters, teachers, or other occupations? Which stars do you admire? How do they conduct themselves in front of the camera?

I did notice it was not schedule for today! I must say though although not proper and dangerous it was entertaining. Probably why i stop and watch hacks work as well. They entertain me, and i can laugh at their expense. Unfortunately sometime the homeowners expense too.

That show especially the personal interviews and the owners conduct remind me alot of the Buzz lately.I couldnt help but watch as well, kinda had that what the heck factor.

New season of Hell's Kitchen started tonight. I was wondering earlier in the week which one I should watch. TLC made up my mind for me....CANCELLED!!! I guess its back to watching John and Kate plue eight, that'll make the wife happy.

Yep. And it also says that if you want him back on, then send a comment to Discovery channel with a link to it. I went and told them not to consider him. He would need at least 3-5 years of proper training and experience to be up to par. And that they wouldn't have the time to wait for him.

Again. We need someone at the top. And I'm not brown nosing either when I say this... But, I think Mark C. should be the guy to watch and learn from. So, in my comment to Discovery Channel I, once again, emphasized covering Mark C.

I think we should all go there and tell them to look into Mark C.

Hahahaha. I'm so so soooo glad I'm not the only man that is forced to watch that show and to top it off a friend of mine.

Your more man than me though, I would have died with that secret, that is until someone else admitted to watching it.
