Salary for ISA cert. arborists

I'm a sole proprietor in Upstate NY. I'm wondering what a reasonable salary is for an certified arborist if I were working as a supervisor/climber for a similar company, or if I had to hire someone to do what I do. Thanks for your help.

I would imagine it ranges greatly across the nation. But I did read in a random article that an arborist earnings can compare with those highly sought after doctor and lawyer positions. I'd much rather earn than foot that bill, but if I had someone experienced enough they would be worth it. Wide pay grade difference tho with different levels of experience.

Agreed; i had one cert arb who quit another company who wanted to work for me; he flunked the 1-day trial period; i would not pay him the $12/hr he made b4 passing the test.

Then again if someone moved in who could run my whole show, or half of it, that would be worth a lot!

So you mean to tell me I could make money climbing trees?

All depends where you go, here in northeast Ohio it tops out around 25 for a climber, no cdl, and a little more down towards Columbus or Cincinati. If your already working for a company the cert might not necessarily change much for your pay-I only saw a buck after paying for my own test but it depends on the employer. Production and skills usually trump certs.
