I think as long as the tree is redirected with a shackle and a lot of true-blue is used, and you pontificate about it as ground being a breaking technique, over the heads of anyone who dares ask if this approach poses any safety issues, and as long as you only crush three or fewer, smaller trees on the site, then it's pretty much okey-dokey.

WE had a buckit truck being used only a 3'or 4' away and there were power lines close enough to be hit If the tree broke, no one other then the supervisor and the dozer operater know waht was going on till it was to late to move we tried to stop them but thay just keep going the tree looked like it was going to snap in two.

As a general rule, when I work around land clearing guys I give them a lot of room 100-500' depending on what type of equipment they are using.

What specifically are you trying to find out? Are you trying to prove a point to your new supervisor? OSHA has the "General Duty" clause. Sounds like everyone too close to each other.
