Ropin Album

Get the Antec spurs, most comfortable ever. Spurless removal is for training. If you are constantly in training then I recommend it, otherwise, buy a pair of spurs that make your work safe and comfortable.

If u were magical and could make a limb apear everywhere u desired a foothold, would you do it?

Well, that what spurs do on a removal.

Do u guys gaff yourself or something? I honestly have no idea why spurless would be desired.

Do your feet hurt? Get the right boots.

I don't understand.

Do ur shins hurt? Try pole gaffs.

Sometimes spurless is better if there is a lot of limb walking involved in the removal. Spurs can get in the way and slow you down. If you're doing a lot of chunking down the trunk it's a different story. I've limbed out many a tree on rope and got down and put the spurs on for the bole.

I am often unfortunately condescending on the buzz, sorry.

This time, my questions are not. There must be something negative about wearing spurs to you.

It is something I don't experience at all, so I'm thinking that if you had the same ones I do or maybe my leg and foot are different, I dont' know.

Spurs do not get in the way for me in the slightest, they are like part of me. I don't even think about them, I just step where I want.

They are very short pole gaffs. On thick vine trees, really rotten trees and thick rough bark trees I wear tree gaffs, I have to be carefull and think about them all the time, especially when limb walking. I don't really like wearing tree gaffs.

Just trying to understand for real here.

Agree 100% never remember being on a limb walk and wished a wasn't in spurs.

I use spurs on removals, just like anyone else would. There are sure fire advantages to them. I said I would not have used spurs on THAT removal. Based on the landing zone, and available crotches to stand in, and sections that could be felled out, I would not have used them for that job.

He removed most of the limbs with two cuts. Why not make those cuts translate into two more equally sized pieces for the ground man to work with, rather than a long one and a short one? I would have preferred to limbwalk halfway out and make a snap cut, or rig it out, followed by the second half. Less waiting around for the ground man to get the branch out of the way while waiting to drop the stub. No stubs hanging around to foul the upcoming pieces...

We will all look at thing differently, and that is one of the beauties of life. Oxman asked for comments, and I gave mine. I never said my way was right or wrong. And, out of curiosity, Tom, how is climbing without spurs for training? Does a removal automatically require spurs? I'd hate to think so...

Thanks Eric this is the 21st century and we got great climbing gear that affords different styles. As I stated I learned to climb in spurs and they aren't no bigger to get in tune with. So watch the posts I am having fun doing. That same tree, which I did this afternoon show the stump in a moment.

Wouldnt it have been easier to just polesaw the tree down from the ground? I mean, with those ripper cuts and all, whats the difference?
