Rope wrench questions

So, I used my co workers new rope wrench today to try it out, and see if I wanted to spend money or make one, and I was not having good luck with it. It didn't seem to do anything. I tried the same hitch I use for drt (VT with 3 wraps) and it seemed like it worked the same with or without the rope wrench?

What am I doing wrong? Is it better to take wraps off or what? I use 10mm beeline on cougar blue. Thanks!

P.S. It ascended decent, I normally just ascend srt and run a drt off that line, but I want to do more srt, if I can get it to work better.

Kevin has created numerous videos for reference on proper setup. Check those out and look over your system carefully, making sure it's configured properly.

The beginning of this video shows numerous configurations working properly. It's also a fun vid to watch...

I can't take a picture, everything is at work. But, I did try it again with one less wrap, one less twist, and it was better. I did have the setup the same as it is supposed to, and it works better with less wraps, which felt better but had minor creeping. I think I like it for setting up quick up/ down scenarios and removals via TIP on a nearby tree, but it will take a while before I can climb a regular full prune efficiently, lots to learn!

Camb,

The more time that you spend on SRT the more you'll realize how much really small changes in your system effect the efficiency. Sometimes shortening a hitch cord as little as a quarter inch will be the difference between clunk and sweet.

SRT responds to change...DdRT is more forgiving of difference.
