Rope Wrench Feedback?

Casey, thanks for taking the time and doing the videos, they really help.

Quick question, so you just put your lanyard over your shoulder and clip it into the DMM thimble on the Wrench, instead of clipping into your HitchClimber pulley? Do both ways fairlead your friction hitch the same?

into the thimble Chris, easier than clipping into the hitchclimber, both work, the former better though, and it's Cary, not Casey...lol, Casey is the other dude ;)

Chris,
If you have a voltige chest harness, I find it works way better than the lanyard system. I have had mine for a month and really like it.
As far as where to clip it, I have long bridge and can clip into the middle hole of the hitchclimber with the chest harness but for some reason it does work a little better when hooking into the tether.
As a tether I prefer using the shortest petzl stitched loop. I find it more tidy and the width of the webbing stops the wrench from moving sideways too much, but I guess that's a minor detail. Either way I am sure you will like your new setup.

the voltige is temping, but i have monster batwing lats...will this thing be comfortable for a mutant like me? lol

I took the 2nd biner out of the equation. I too like to have a hand width btwn the wrench and my hitch. I had to order some more cordage because the teather sold at Tree Stuff wasn't long enough for me. Minimal cost and I have the non wrench end of the teather attached to my hitch biner on the hitch climber. I also made and adjustable teather on my dbl handed ascender. I am playing with hooking it to the thimble or the hitch climber. I haven't decided yet. I've been doing mostly removals and its all been bucket work.

Holy crap Cary! Did you get those wings from all those pullups and chins, or are they from the powerlifting days?

It's a great way to force you into improving your footlocking skills. I'm not implying that anyone needs to. :) I use the "toothed cam incompatibility excuse" with my brother so I can footlock all day. I wonder if I'll change my tune when my new hank of KM III comes...hmmm?

Casey man....going srt will save u so much money man. It takes so much gear and headaches out of the equation.

Yea man I know. Just not 100% sold yet. I am at 95% we just don't climb tall enough trees.

Get it bro. I have a 200 ft for tall trees and now I have two 100 footers for the short ones.

Nothing is faster and as simple as the wrench in my opinion.
I did a sick climb yesterday that required removing hangers out of a Norway maple and a white pine. All I did was set my line once. Shot the line through the white pine and through the Norway maple. Up the pine I went cleaned the hangers out. Jumped through the crotch and traversed over to the Maple. Done plain and simple! I’m amazed every time on this wrench and I can’t believe the amount of trees we get done in a day!
I do have to find a way not to rip up my lines so quickly though

clip that saw up shorter man, and watch where it is...lol I will sooner lower it out when getting to a tricky spot on the tree, then have it sent back up, rather than catch my chain on it.
