rope runner

You're making me recall a time when I held the rope with my hand above the Bird. Nice thing about the Runner is that you can pull it along sans friction with that technique. I eventually got the feel dialed in and quit the technique. Pretty much just one hand on deck now, unless I'm really moving and need the brake hand.

I would say technique more than anything. Don't think of the beak as your only mode of control. Use the whole bird, thinking of pushing that lever down. Don't let the top slic pin get to far from the rope. Think stick shift, clutch. Break the bird just slightly and then accelerating by pushing down on the back of the bird. Jumpy is caused by jumping that front pin off the rope and you go fast so you let go.

Akimbo'd my runner a couple of days ago. Seems to work pretty well. Needs some refinement. Not as slick as jaimies easy on easy off, but it works pretty good. Eliminates the drop hazard and I notice the loss of a friction point as far as smoothness, it Needs a pulley. Other than that, it's a fun little experiment.

Did you try it at all with the friction body on it also? It looks awesome!

No, I just cut it out. Messing around really. Nothing I will be selling or pushing. Just seeing what different bodies do. I boned my runner a while back too. Over the winter.

Hey Frank, do you have preference on payment and location for the Walnut Blanks for the RR? Isn't tomorrow the big day? Thanks for all of your legwork for all of us that showed interest in them!

Don't give up on it Moss. It is something that you will learn to control but it does atke a little time and some wear on the device hepls also. First day I had mine (again) I spent about an hour just ascending the rope about 60 ft and bombing down about 20 feet then just dragging the friction down to about 10 feet. Then I make a controlled stop and repeat the process. I was a lot of work on the legs but it gave me some wear marks and made everything work better after that. What I have found is that the bump makes the pressure to release the bird slightly less which in turn makes the release a little more clutch pedal. I also like having a cusion on the bird since it seems to get me right on a nerve. If you want a cheap temporary cushion vut some rubber air hose and slip it on the top. It gets in the way putting the rope in sometimes but it will give you cushion. If you like it I have some wooden blanks being cut out tomorrow if my laser guy holds his word.

I am hoping that shipping will be less than a buck, in which case they are my gift to all you guys on the list. Swings will probably cost a million bucks since he lives in the middle of nowhere, but I like him the best. Lol
