phil,
i'd be curious to hear what break tests showed about the stiff section of your rope compared to the normal part. granted it's a well used rope, so the break strength will be substantially diminished, but i think it would be interesting to break the stiff section and then break a section 30 ft away from that point on the rope. any place near you to do that? we have one in seattle i think, and if it's not too pricey i'd do the footwork to get it tested.
k.

Yes, your are right. I now recind evrything I had previously said about Ca's but I have to tell you there are a lot of people makeing a mockery of your accredidations. I will list them if you want and we can rout them out together. They have really pissed me off(if you can't tell). You know when you are trying to work a tree in the heat and they are down there quoting the standards and telling you how to do it when you are thinking" This guy wouldn't be caught dead up here". And when you look down all you can see is their nostrils and their hardhats.I don't know why they would need a hardhat, they don't do anything but talk. I know I talk a lot but am not like this on the job.

Tom, you have extracted yet another apology out of me. You must be a smart and patient man. Thanks for reading and thanks for talking.

Do you ever compete B.S. ?
Im just curious...dont blow your top

Are you asking me if I compete in B.S.? Well that should be evident.

If you are asking me if I compete in climbing the answer is no. Why would you think I would blow my top on that question?

i hope the guys you work with now realize how lucky they are to be working with the real life Jesus Christ. You obviously know everything about tree work and ropes and anything else in which you have had no "formal training". I was always told that the only stupid question was the one not asked. That seemed like some good advice to me. i guess not though. I suppose since i wasn't born with an innate abiltiy to understand everythign about everything I should return to a vegetative state and rely on my parents to survive.

I also thought I asked you not to respond to anymore of my threads. You are like the retarded child whose mother tells him not to put his hand in the pot of boiling water but does it anyway. I asked you not to do something but you did it. Its no wonder you can't hold a steady job with one employer...you don't listen. Again...don't respond to this Bsaville...just read it and leave. If you search the web long enough i am sure you will find a psychiatrist forum in which all your emotional issues can be addressed.

you make me weep for humanity. (not a joke...i am serious)

You should know by now that I am the kind of guy who immediatly does what he is told not to do. I guess I am like Jesus because I still live. But in no way retarded.

You will not find an easier place to work than with me and I can prove that if you want.

My bone to pick with you is why you don't know about your ropes. Don't mess with them if you don't know where they have been. If your instructor never told you this HE is to blame and that is why I am so angry. You should be mad to; for being up a tree with a tainted rope. It probably isn't even your fault( if you didn't know) but that can kill you. I might be nuts but I don't want you to die because some #@!hole $#@!ed up your rope and didn't tell you. I am just as hard on myself,by the way. And I did ask you not to be offended and hope now you see my concern for this industry. You sound like a nice kid.

thats an interesting idea to actually have it tested...any idea of what type of lab or business to search for that might do tensile stregnth testing? if there were one nearby i might go check it out.

"My bone to pick with you is why you don't know about your ropes. Don't mess with them if you don't know where they have been."

this is one of my problems with you....your logic is flawed on every level....i don't know the first thing about mechanics in a car but does that mean i shouldn't drive the used car i bought because i have no idea what the last mechanic serviced it did? no...if it works i use it...when something goes wrong with it i try to find out what and get it fixed...if getting it fixed means buying a new car then so be it... at least i learned what happened and can avoid it in the future. You mentioned how many different people you have worked for/with over the years...did you have each of them buy you a brand new rigging line to use when you started because you didn't know how they were used in the past? Where ever i go i either get a brand new saddle, or use my own. Then i have them buy me a brand new climbing line. other than that...its a rigging line. It gets stressed...i saw a flaw and addressed the issue. I am happy your parents were given the proverbial book on life and were able to teach you everything about everything that you were ever going to come accross in your existence. if only we could all be so lucky. but i may as well be talking to a brick wall.

I wish one thread could stay on topic............in iother words one where BSville isn't commenting!!!

Good luck with that

Sorry Phil,

Ben, you mentioned that you go to church. I ponder your faith and theology that you follow. Christ taught tolerance, acceptance and love of all mankind and tolerance for the sins of man upon acceptance of the gift of life.

Your tolerance levels are low for a man of deep faith and reverence for the teachings of one who sacrificed themselves for men and women who've done far worse than ask for third party review of rope issues.
