Ring on bridge?

I have a Sequoia as well and don't have a ring or swivel on it (as of yet). Never climbed with one either on any other saddle. I've always preferred clipping directly into a bridge rather than a ring or device.

I forgot who it was, but I'm pretty sure I remember once seeing a fellow buzzer saying something along the lines of "what's the difference between a carabiner and a ring running against the bridge" in terms of friction and wear and tear.

Although I know a lot of people utilze them with no issues, just something I haven't gotten around to looking into.
there is a big difference! the ring will turn and the wear will be even, the carabiner wears on one spot only.

maybe if your work does not involve alot of bridge movement or your saddle is lying in the car most of the time anyway, it might not matter.

Too each their own.

I’ve been climbing without a ring for years and never encountered any issues.

Not that I have any issues with a ring, I just never tried one so can’t really compare.

I think it also depends on how you climb and what device(s) you use. Climbing MRS is pretty easy just clipping to the bridge. Climbing SRS with say a Rope Runner would be pretty annoying without a ring because the device works and especially tends best in a certain orientation relative to the climber. This isn't a deal breaker, it just makes it less optimal to me personally. Also, most rings are fatter than most carabiners so there is usually a slightly better bend radius. That may or may not matter to you.

I use swivel pulley on bridge like Rock Exotica Hydra or Notch Rookie. The arch on pulley gives Its easy arch on my bridge rope and vertically no frictions even at extended adjustable bridge mode I think. I know and aware that in both way the ring , carabiners won't cause any issues.
It might not changing anything or improving anything but having safe and secure and committed to have longevity on most important section on PPE gears like bridge are always a Winner to my mind.
For most climbers now uses bridge ring anyway.

I think certain things like a swivel or sometimes when setting up your 2nd tie in for a cut it can be advantageous to either choke your lanyard and connect the adjuster to your swivel or ring instead of going hip to hip or lower ds.
Or u don't have to choke the lanyard, it just depends what your bridge attachment is and what your trying to accomplish.
I clip my zz direct to my bridge all the time when I'm cutting on a spar, just to keep the chain link further away from the wood to avoid the side loading.

I leave one grommet in to capture the Akimbo carabiner and the remaining two out. The stainless steel ring seems to slide easier than an aluminum ring but not as fast as a pulley.
Curious if you've run the akimbo in MRS configuration clipped back to the 3rd gyro swivel. Is there enough spacing/does the multi directional movement get in the way? Thx

Sorry, LT, I have not tried that. It should, however, be well within the Giro 3's capabilities. I still enjoy how well it functions and minimizes clutter on the bridge in multi-line setups.
I'm sure it's capable of configuring it, just concerned there won't be enough separation to clear the akimbo or other mechanical when collapsing it. Thanks though ✌️

Edit, I found a YouTube video showing it work fine in both configurations. That's rad

Last winter I tried a Rock Exotica Omni-Block 1.1" Pulley as my primary SRS rope bridge attachment point, and after at first finding it “scary” grew to like to so much I wouldn’t consider going back to a ring or a carabiner.

Now that I’ve became accustomed to it I find it pleasantly fluid, having both a swivel and pulley, in every direction, and talk about easy on the bridge rope!

The only improvement I would wish for was if the manufacturer was to add a discrete pulley lock (perhaps even a screw that could be installed - hmm maybe I’ll try that modification myself:)) for a little more friction in certain awkward situations.
@Simpleiowaguy @pete3d

read today they are doing an inspection/ recall on this pulley. just a heads up.

I run 2 separate bridges with a ring on each. Just in the past year I have started playing with swivels. I find they help a lot when I'm running 2 systems, less important with a single system because the ring on the bridge already swivels quite a bit. That Gyro swivel looks really interesting, I've seen tons of guys in the UK post about it ever since they mandated the 2 rope systems at all times...
gyro is the piece to have on a bridge or more expensive exotica swivel

I think Gyro is more expensive swivel than anything . It is more expensive than Rock Exotica large swivel that's for sure .
It is true that is an convenient piece of gear tho...
Perhaps talking bout Rock Exotica Hydra/ Rook $120ish. That's what I'm running till gyro comes in. Gyro seems more versatile and smaller, the most annoying part of the Hydra/Rook is the pulley that throws you for an unexpected ride and makes you work your core a lil extra at times

pour in epoxy, problem solved :)

Sherrill notch radius ring would be perfect for you than hydra Rook .
