Makes sense now, it was just to show there are other options than going down the new shiney route.

I am a fully qualified climber/tree surgeon, and test everything I make/use/sell - its just what pays my bills.

Softeye wasnt everyones cup of tea.

But I found a neat trick :)

I saw your pic and thought to myself, if it can pop out? It will pop out eventually at some point.

I could swear I've seen pics of a thimble that the rope must be threaded around so it can't pop out?

You know like an inner tube with an entrance hole and exit hole at the bottom?

So when setting this from the ground I assume you only pass through the pinto and the x? The large steel ring doesn't come into play. Every time I think I see it in my mind something shiny comes along and hits the reset button. Excuse my stupidity.

I watched the usaver installation video's about 5 times and I think I've got it. Pretty slick. Is there ever a time that the steel ring comes into play for load sharing or is the bend too small and too much friction. for instance over 2 limbs. The steel on the outside of one limb and the x outside in a secind and the pinto in the middle with them all coming together under load?
