Rigging Rope suggestions

I totally agree, Mike. I just got done pulling the trigger on new mechanicals and climbing ropes. The crew cab is packed from floorboards to headrests with climbing/rigging gear. I would probably go postal if I caught someone trying to break in to my truck. The bed is strictly chainsaws and flammables, and several jacks & chains. Not to mention sand bags and dunnage during the snowy seasons!

I do have a 9/16" pulling, 14mm Sirius, (2) 1/2" Arborplexes, & a 5/8" multi line. So I guess I'm doing ok on Rigging lines, not to mention, several HTP's , Kernmaster, (3) tachyons, (3) Samson Velocities and (2) Vortexes. I think I'm pretty much covered for just about everything that comes along. I almost forgot 6-7 other 7/16" SRT lines. Is that too much? Or should I find a few more, just for shits and grins?

Why, do you need a few? It never fails, I set out to buy several needed items from TS, next thing you know I've got another rope in the order. Damn those guys, I just can't pass up a good deal. Plus, I do all of my own splices. Just did a tight eye in some Velocity, and a sewn eye in a 300'er PMI which I don't know where it came from, Seriously! No Clue, at all!

You got it covered man! Never can have enough! Now, not sure you need them all on the same job. But, maybe!!

One never knows! I just did a twin Maple a week or so, ago. Next thing, 2 HOers wanted 5 other trees pruned, it was a really busy week. I just got a call this morning to dismantle a 200+ yr old Burl Oak, really sad, but the trunk is 40% hollow, and its overhanging a 2 story home. The HO is 86 and her grandfather planted it before the house was built. It's just really sad, she was in tears when I checked the trunk.

I'm running 4 lines. 3/8 Husky, 1/2 multiline, 9/16 husky, and 5/8 husky when I get into big stuff. Use the 3/8 a lot for branches and small leads, 9/16 for wood usually. Multiline for natural crotching.

I've never seen a use for 3/8" lines, not enough material to get a proper handhold. 7/16" is the smallest line that I feel comfortable with. Is there some sort of medication for reducing arborist gear purchasing? I may need to get a 3 month supply. Like yesterday! While I'm on Google looking for shizil rope tenders. Why? Why? Why? It never ends, I'm always looking for another list of parts to build something that I want, okay maybe need! I'm looking for parts to make several 2 in 1 CE Lanyards.
I'm thinking I want to make a few lanyards with a thimble prussik and 2 aluminum ISC snaps and a pinto pulley prussik on a 15-20' piece of 1/2" double braid rope. I saw a nice setup on YouTube with shizil rings on the 2 attachments. Any input from others?

Take some pictures

So I didn't feel like climbing today after wotk, so I am taking you all on a picture tour of some of the stuff I look at everyday trying to decide what is going to fall down next and maybe hurt someone. This is the local park I do most of my climbing and tree work at. Some of the pics are a little dark but trust me it all looks bad.

Yeah, looks like you have plenti to keep ya busy! Your doing all of this pro bono? That's a great way to learn and help the community out at the same time. Hope your improvements to the park are much appreciated!

They are Tc. I always have people stop and thank me when I am on the ground and it's safe. It also has been nice for me also, as you mentioned I get to practice everything. Climbing, trimming, felling, rigging, chainsaw sharpening and tuning, brush dragging, piling firewood and I get to spread the word about trees and how important it is to take care of them at every age.

Why would you buy all your own rigging stuff when you work for a full service tree company? Let the pictures of front line rope speak for it's self. The 2 in the box are my ropes I've kept around for natural crotch because these ass hats have either burned up or cut. I loaned them to the company indefinitely. That means they can keep them. I wasn't happy with them anyway and already have a huge box of old ropes in my garage.

Funny, we were just talking about this the other day. That is the one down-fall of the GRCS. When you have to come back into the landing zone to take a wrap or two off after cranking the thing up in order to let it down.
Keep that handle out of the grcs when lowering.. I know it's a pain, but they do break...

What's wrong with this rope? Still got a lot of use left in it. Like pulling a short piece of wood out of the woods behind your ATV? That rope is screwed!
