I have wondered if he would want to do tree stuff. He's 1.5 hours drive time from me.


15 years ago, I figured out how to Never risk a factor 2 leader fall... thought of reaching out to him, but I am so busy with tree work.

I remember a while back, like 2 years maybe, he did a video or two on... something with a tree climber friend. I imagine he may be interested, but also super super busy.

For break testing it's usually semi-static eg there has to be some rate of movement but heating/thermal rise has to be minimised. This mixes with stress/strain and cycles to failure for rope where load and progressive weakening interact. In short its a mess. Hence the idea if one could semi-reality the setup, or do controlled representation of the factors, trying to measure the difference in internal stress via thermal/heat generation is somewhat new ground.

It has to be measured under controlled repeat motion (rope travel) and load, so no simple drop or pull tests on a traditional go till break pull machine would work.
