Rig N' Wrench

I tried it today and it worked really well. I did not retrieve it remotely however as I was just cutting in one spot. With the non pinto biner on the haul back side, the pinto lifts as you pull slack and drops when weighted. You have to run the rope over the biner to get it to lift the pinto. Steel biners would be best of course.

What about when a Wrench is incorporated? Would the added friction and pull throw the biners more off balance and tend to bring the one over the limb?. I have not yet picked up a Rig N Wrench so I am only theorizing.

An adjustable cinching style system is the way to go for the Rig Wrench. Especially for more excurrent tree types where you can end up without a union to hang the system in. The size of the rope path through the Wrench is the real hold up for retrievability, but I'm not totally sold on the need for retrievability. Perhaps only in a few scenarios.

I've been thinking a lot about how these would work if two or more were run in series in a tree by setting up multiple rigging points...

Well, I better test that for you, buddy, before you go and hurt yourself. Can't afford to have you injured before the damn Akimbo is well into production. Just let me know if you need my shipping address. No need to thank me, I consider it my civic duty.

Looks nice. Stripper bolts scare me a little, it looks like you pocketed them into the body or at least I'm hoping so. They don't take side load well however if you get the major diameter located on both sides and only use the thread to retain it then it should work well.

So far, what kind of ropes have you found to work well, and ropes that didn't work well with the rig n wrench?

I'm trying to put together a game plan before I make an order. I use 1/2" stable braid right now for most rigging but I'll switch it up if need be.

Old fluffy twelve strands sucked in a major way. A new twelve strand has been working good. It's that generic orange stuff. Yale maybe. Gonna try and old piece of xtc fire that I have lying around.

I second the Sirius. That's my line. Safety blue, atlas as long as it's not glazed and crunchy. Stable braid seems too fat. I like everything about the Sirius. Size to strength is perfect. Haven't tried the 14mm to see if it fits in the wrench yet. That's my "bull".line.

I have the 14mm Steve and it does not fit well. You can jam it in there but it really doesn't work well.

x2 on 14mm, stable braid, and glazed, puffy, crunchy, etc - too much friction and a big pain in the ass to free if decent sized load gets pinched in the isc friction device aloft. The smaller and smother the diameter of rope, the better. Remember- this thing isn't rated for extremely heavy loads. I've been using an old 24 strand 11.7 tachyon. Works great.
