Rig N' Wrench

That Forestry Pro I'm using is 12-strand. I want to drop some bigger pieces into it before I say much about it, but with smaller/lighter stuff it offers less resistance than the 16-stand rope. I suspect, however, that with larger/heavier loads that could completely change. I'm hoping to get over to the other house this week and start dismantling a mostly dead ash tree, and try some stuff out with the RnW. Right now, it's a wet, sloppy mess outside. Snow should be melted off by tomorrow, and hopefully it will start drying off.

If you rig a lot it's worth it!

I rig almost everything bigger than my forearm even if landscaping or structures aren't a worry. The ground guys like the control and I don't like debris flying from dead wood or chunks flipping around.

So it's at the top of my to buy list - new truck and mini skid first though.

I was surprised to see your groundsman wearing rubber gloves. Mine always wear leather so they can let it ruuuun.

You definitely took some chances on letting those limbs run between and on those aerial cables. Any moisture, it would have been a different story! Very Lucky!!!

Yeah, that really was a mess. The three phase in back was what I was most concerned about, the service drops were in good condition but I definitely put myself in a compromised situation taking on that tree. It all ended okay, learned some things. I was glad for the rig n wrench on it. I wished I had spurs that would have made it a bit smoother. but it went pretty fast. I was happy

Sometimes the least amount of metallic gear the better. Although Spurs would have given you better footing. I had an Elm that was very similar, but no Groundie. Safety first, Birra! Nice video, nonetheless!

I had Starlet film me taking out a standard silver maple caught in the wires. She was also working so she missed quite a bit of the dismantle, mainly the end when all hands were needed to pick the tree up again. I don't normally do removals without spurs... that was an oversight packing up the truck. Im still learning this tool and a few of the pieces got a little weird and and I didn't balance em quite right or whatever. tree got down, no wires or fence or garage damage. The Rig N Wrench made it a lot faster than what I would have done before.
Oh the soundtrack is a Starlet and her sister Shannon original. As is all the editing and so on.
Nice job Kev. I thought you all did pretty good on the wires. New guy looks like he's doing all right. That track in the background was great. Nice job Star! Do they have music available on the interwebs?

Star and her sister have some tunes on SoundCloud, I'm not sure how it works though. She's a great songwriter she has some good tunes. A few years ago at the michigan tree comp she gave a performance at the awards ceremony.

Dawon is great, really good attitude but a lot yet to learn.

Keep in mind that this kills the pinto, but you get the idea. Remote retrievable compact rig n wrench. A slic pin in place of the pinto Becket would make it midline. image.webp

Did you try that? I played around with the wrench on a ring to ring but it unbalanced it and drew the ring around the branch. My best luck with the retrievable rig n wrench is using the pulley saver for climbing with the wrench replacing the retrieval becket. That has so much friction that it doesn't pull over or get crossed up. The one sided ring and ring didn't seem to work.
