Retrievable doubled rope redirect

Tom, unrelated note. how do I make a pic smaller to use as my avatar? Obviously I am not so computer savvy. U have a mac right?

yeah u beat me to it. The one I use is a small cambium saver (24"?) with a biner attached to the small ring and a micropulley clipped to that biner. Then u loop it over a crotch or around a stem like in Rocks and Trees pic. The key is that the end of your climbing line that terminates at your saddle, the one without your hitch on it, runs thru the large ring. So the other side of your line goes thru the pulley. The pulley is there so you do not have to untie your whole friction hitch to get that part of your rope thru the small ring. When you clip your retrieve ball or a figure eight knot if thats what you use to catch your saver and pull on it it will run thru the large ring on your re-direct, and up to your main tie in point, thru the large ring on your saver( if you are using one). Then it will catch on the small ring on your main saver, pull that one out, and that saver with your ball or figure eight in your line will run down and catch on your re-direct, on the side with the small ring and the micro pulley, pulling that one out also.

To me a retreivable redirect would be one you could retreive without pulling your main TIP.

A removeable one, is one you can remove when you remove your TIP.

Maybe thats what Tom meant?

To me there is a difference

Let me see if I can remember the Denny re-direct, named after a guy I used to work with. He is an amazing climber, and he taught me much.

My setup involves a 1/4" whoopie with a carabiner on one eye and a snap-shackle on the other eye. There is a release cord tied to the snap shackle.

I'm trying to dig up pics...

Here's another picture of a "removable" catigory.

Redirect

I can't see how you could place any midline and be able to remove it with out taking your TIP out, unless you actual went up and retrieved it manually.
