Redwoods near Portland Oregon?

I know this is short notice, but I'm headed to the Portland, Oregon area (Portland, Mt. Hood, Crater Lake, Eugene) later this month and wondered if there are any redwoods to see there or if they are only further south, in California. Or better yet, if there are some big trees there, any locals interested in leading a climb into one of them?

Too far north. The furthest north in there native range is just outside grants pass.. there are some huge ones that have been planted near Eugene. But any of the fragments of the old growth is worth the drive into the foothills

There are a bunch of individual and small clumps in the greater Portland metro area. As I recall, some pretty good ones on the west side near the zoo, at the arboretum, etc.

Here's a link to some with an address:

Plenty of planted coast redwoods and sequoias, but Evo is correct that their native range reaches its northern edge quite a bit south of Portland.

Hoyt is definitely worth a visit, as is the Portland Audubon Society which has a grove of old-growth doug firs just a short distance from downtown.

Some great old dougs just south of Welches, OR on salmon river rd, and a very cool stand of pacific silver firs on the banks of boulder lake on the east side of mt hood. As usual, if you are climbing in the forest practice leave no trace and know what you are doing. If you don't have experience climbing big conifers, please don't just go out there, get a line stuck and then leave it in the tree. It may sound obvious, but you would be surprised how many folks do exactly that.

If you do wind up near welches I have a good friend there who runs a air bnb, he could point you to some rad spots..
