RADS with Shunt on a tether

If I ever climb using RADS I use this setup.

Adjusting the cord so that top of the Shunt is no further away than arm's-length when hanging keeps it available for emergency descents.

I don't use the Shunt in this setup as a second attachment point either. If I want that I would use a shelled cam like a Microcender below the friction device.

The pics were taken years before the Eddy was even dreamed of. At the time the I'd filled my criteria for a descender. Now, Eddy is the best choice.

The lower part.

The lower end of the cord tether can be attached anywhere. I try to keep everything fair so that there are fewer snags while climbing.

Looks good Tom! Nice use for a Revolver. I'm gonna give that a try tomorrow if I get to climb.

Is that a boat anchor in the second pic?

The ole I'D; actually they're big but I haven't noticed that they feel all that big on rope. But now with the availablity of the Eddy and UniCender, the I'D has kinda passed so to speak, well except for the redeeming factor that it's rated for two people which makes it good for rescue.
