Quiet in here

Hang in there, my son Jacob was in the nicu and then semi-private care rooms for a total of the first 3 months of his life, at times they were worried he wouldn't make it and they told us he would have many life long problems, now he's almost 3 years old and you wouldn't know he had any problems at all when he was born.

Believe me its something you won't forget and you will miss those nurses more than yo know.

I do appreciate you sharing that. I know that we have so much to be thankful for, some of the preemies in the NICU are so little and precious, and we have this honking 8 pound baby boy whose main problem is barfing.

Glad to hear that Jacob is a hearty and hale 3 years old, no worse for wear!

Home is best!
Although, your cats may think otherwise with the new little family member!

Tell me how he does on his first round at throwball golf... after he scares the cats first of course.

I had a bizarre cat rescue this AM. I was picking up Junior at his Mom's to take him to the bus where he'll ride with his team to Baltimore and get their butts kicked in U-15 Lacrosse mecca... but I digress.

I was in the car and he was inside closing the garage door when I noticed Smidgen, his cat trapped between the door and the upper sill... just a furry cat body hanging down with her head jammed above... she wasn't moving but sounded pretty uncomfortable. FREAKED me out! He came around the corner as I was jumping out of the car and HE FREAKED OUT.

The house was now locked and he had no key and consequently no way to raise the door. While he was trying to find a way in I held her up and tried to assess the situation. Opening the door probably would've done more damage than good, I couldn't pull her down or push her up. Finally I figured out it wasn't too hard to push the door inward which made just enough space to slip her head out. Total time elapsed was probably less than a minute but it seemed a lot longer. Smidge is fine but kinda pissed about losing a little fur. I have no idea how she wound up in that position... pretty exciting though.

Easy, did you notice how I cleverly used the cat reference to shift the focus away from you and onto me, my son and his cat? Pretty slick, eh?

7 hours later I realize I have bitten off more than I can chew.

That little monster has crapped in no fewer than 4 diapers, and had a total of 7 diaper changes.

That's one an hour.

This is going to be a great weekend! See you all in about half a year or so!

One -- Wrong thread dipshite, this is UpYourTree's thread... which I hijacked fair and square. Climber and Easy have their own thread.

Two -- WTF is noone? Is that how you spell noon in ye olde English or something? Or did you mean 'no one'? If you're gonna talk smack at me, at least learn to spell you backwards Yankee moron.

Three -- It wasn't MY cat, it was my son's cat.

It appears you can neither read OR spell. Typical baked bean... don't you have a potato to peel or something?

If I want a rise out of you I'll let you know mickey boy. I was going for a rise out of Stephan, who has disappointed me greatly by instead whining about a few diaper changes... BIG DEAL, he hasn't even had his second kid and no pre-school diseases will afflict him for several years yet... what a whiner. I'll bet he even uses disposable diapers... the wussy.

True you did hijack this thread, but EZ and his young FT killing machine have hijacked it from you. Just the way the world works I guess.......?

Duly noted Blinky. Last night I was wondering if it is too late to take Climber back to the ICN, just for a couple more days....just kidding.

Yeah, I whine and moan a lot, but that's my style. It helps keep attention squarely on me where it belongs.

OK Stephan......
since you like the attention on you, I will feed into it!!

How did Climber make it through his first night at home?
Or should I be asking, how did Stephan and Carmen make it through the first night of Climber being home?

I didn't think you'd have a decent comeback for that one. I love being right all the time.

I am wondering myself how I made it through the night. I thought about all of the other people in the world who have gone through the first night with a baby, and how no one ever told me how bad it sucks to not sleep through the night. I usually get up 2-3 times a night to let my dog in or out, but that was different, once the dog was in or out, I could go straight back to sleep.

Not so with a baby. I actually said to Carmen "maybe we could rethink this whole baby thing", and "you think they would take him back at Presby"?

Of course I was just kidding, and I am ecstatic to feel the strain of parenthood that countless parents through the ages have endured.

I will prevail. I will carry on. I will continue to get Climber's poopy mess all over the place in the middle of the night.
