Product Recall DMM Compact Swivel Units

28-mar-2023 Got a note from DMM today listing the stuff I’d sent them and this:
“We have decided to replace used units received from end users with a new swivel unit featuring an additional mechanical fixture to ensure that the assembly cannot unscrew itself. We have extensively tested the new solution and are very happy with the improvements and the test results. As this is a physical change to the product, we have also undertaken certification updates and product evaluation activities with our PPE notified body SGS.

Updated CNC tooling is being prepared, additional QC steps are being put in place, and we will be starting manufacture of the new units in early February, with the aim of commencing shipping back to end users within February.

As you can imagine, we have lots of units to work through, and we will be processing them on a first in-first out basis. Once your units are ready to head back to you, you will receive another email confirming return shipping.

But it’s end March ?????
I received that same message on Feb 15th.
See my March 17th post above.
Since I have both, I suspect I won't see anything until at least May.

Emailed DMM yesterday. Started out with, "Please don't answer this with the stock, "Safety of our customers is our primary concern here at DMM."
Received a response from them today that started out with, "Safety of our customers is our primary concern here at DMM."
It must be built into their e-mail program.
What it went on to say was nothing of value. Same old, same old, working as fast as they can getting certifications and stuff.
Maybe next year we will get to use our gear from them.

If I had known it was going to take this long, I wouldn't have sent mine in. I keep a pretty good eye on my gear and would find something coming apart before it let me down. I have some trouble understanding how someone could have their swivel totally unscrew without being aware of it, unless they don't check their equipment like they should.
 
I have sent several firm but politely worded emails to various people at DMM and have received exactly zero response. I did get one response at the very beginning assuring me that further communication would be prompt, but those words have proved to be absolutely hollow.

We have received your Sw470. We are currently restocking our US Warehouse, as soon as the stock is ready you will receive your replacement.
I am expecting this to be next week, but we will email you when we ship to you.

Just got a notice from DMM. They have shipped my swivels and Director carabiners. 6/2/23 @ 9:00pm
Scheduled to arrive here on Monday via Fed-Ex. Shipped from Denver, CO.
 
I just got the email an hour ago, but apparently they shipped mine yesterday, and threw in a nice carabiner as a bonus. I assume that's their attempt at a response to my many alternative solutions that they refused to acknowledge.

Just glad to finally get my gear back.
