I like swivels. I also like that nobody probably gives a shit what I like! Life's cool that way. I put the Gyro on mine and added the Enigma. They don't really make anything a lot better. I just like them.

Well, since I seem to have stirred a pot here, I will explain my harness set up. I do not use the side rings for anything but equipment storage. My lanyard is on the lower paws with a swivel Director attached to Petzl Zillion. There are swivel Directors on both of my two bridges. They make a very short connection to my Zigzag, and to another Zillion from the second bridge for a choke lanyard. On the end of that I have a yoke Director because it folds nice and short against the stem without placing a significant side load on it.
I am not a, New-Shiny-Gear Chaser by any means. I use what works best for me. I don't fancy one company over another. I'm still at this at 70 years of age and began when we still climbed on twisted manilla rope and hand saws that weighed 5 pounds and three feet long. I for one am very happy with the new gear that makes life easier. And I trust my gear, which ranks up there in the top five things a climber needs to do.
Oh, and I don't spin very often... Sometimes, but not often.
I am a rope junkie however. Have enough climbing rope to last several lifetimes. Got to get and try out the latest one. Most then go into bags never to be seen or heard from again. End up using Blue Moon for DRT and Scandere for SRT. The rest just seem to be used to pull up my climb lines over crotches so I don't abrade my climb lines. Oh, and that is where another swivel comes in on an Omni Block for my DRT climb line. Which has also been recalled but, I am ignoring that one because I can deal with it myself.

He lives about 30 miles south of Hwy 2, and I am 30 miles north of Hwy 2. If you lived around here you would get the drift. Sort of like southerners and northerners on a smaller scale.

This has nothing to do with new school/old school, but everything to do with the fact that I dont trust swivels in my life support systems. Add to that the fact that they didnt perform like I would have hoped and the choice is easy for me.

The thought of going back to a tautline hitch send a shiver up my spine. A 3 strand 7/8"manilla wire-core flip-line on the other hand is still king when it comes to rollin up a 6ft+ stick...Nothing like it!

The lower Ds (paws) place the rope grab (whatever you are using), and the rope at an awkward position to operate easily. The swivel lets you swing it around to a natural position for tending. I'm sure there are some who use the lower Ds without a swivel, but I bet it is because they don't trust them.

Could be the difference in our harnesses.

What harness? On my MB it's terrible around 50% of the time without a swivel

Could be our MB saddles, but I had the same problem when I briefly ran the Sequoia, although not quite as bad.
