Please help me find a Dichotomous tree ID key

Location
US
Hey guys,
I am starting a website and I'm looking for a Dichotomous key to be able to identify trees.
It's a weird name but this is the name they call the little step-by-step guide to finding which tree I'm looking at.

I'm able to pay a nominal fee if someone is willing to let me use their key.

Does anybody know who has a fairly decent key AND who would be willing to share it?

Thanks guys

Danielson

Dichotomous keys are usually specific to a specific plant family, or sometimes to a specific geographical region, or sometimes both. You would need some specific parameters to find a key that will help you identify what you're looking at.

I am looking for either a general "high level" key for major trees in the us, or a heavy duty one.

Either way.

Does any one know who has one and would share/sell?

A good book to start with and I think it has the KEY is Manual of Woody Landscape Plants by Dirr. Contact the publisher and they may have an electronic copy for sell/use. Also you may want to contact your local extension office or university. If you get the info, please share with us your web site. It is always great to have informed websites to visit.

I use 'The Illustrated Book of Trees' by William C. Grimm. It covers about 250 species in Eastern North America. It has Winter and Summer Dichotomous keys for each genus. It also includes quite a few introduced species.

I've yet to find a book that survives riding around in my car though, they're all falling apart.
