Petzl Sequioa & Saw attachment

I recently purchased a sequioa and was wondering what your suppose to use to attach your saw lanyard to the two little attachment holes/lopes that are right under/behind the side d-rings...I've been using my caritools....But was wondering what others are doing/using.

Oh yeah, hello to everybody....I've been lurking on the buzz for a long time finally got around to registering.

Welcome to the Buzz! I was using a mini caribiner through the webbing but have since bought a sugoi and strap it to my leg.

I use a silky zubat and have come up with a good attachment method for it...but was wondering what your suppose to be able to fit threw the two little saw lanyard attachment holes....at least thats what my manual says there for (saw holder).

I use a large caritool for my chainsaw lanyard, placed right behind the right D. I tried the small caritool but had a hard time clipping and unclipping it. I also use a sugoi with the leg scabbard, I'll never go back to one hanging off my saddle.

Welcome to the Buzz,

I think that I have been using the same set up you have. The Buckingham breakaway chainsaw lanyard with the brass snap fits just right in the plastic ring you mentioned.

I put the large carrytool a little farther back on my right side and that is what I clip my saw to.

I use a small shackle in the small hole connected to my Sugoi quick disconnect. So i can easily take it off and on. I had it attached to my leg for awhile but rope wound catch it,pull it out of the sheath and ground it. When you're working by yourself it sucks to have to fetch it

I just use a mini biner clipped to scabbard which i hang off of the side tool loops. For a chainsaw, I've got a clevis with a twist through the plastic holder with a hook i hacked off my old saddle that i removed the gate from. I just hang my saw lanyard off the hook.

I do what What TreeBobb did, put small shackles through those little black plastic eye things. but on the right and left side I put a swiveled dog snap onto the shackle as well for my saws. Now I can easily snap-on, snap-off (the snapper) my scabbard and sawlanyard.

Ive broken every carrytool I used. Instead I use the nonlocking kong paddle beaner to hang my saw. I do like the sugoi carried on the right lower leg opposed to on the saddle. To prevent the rope from pulling the saw out I cut the pinky rest on the sugoi handle off it still has a good grip and never gets pulled out of the sheath by rope or branch

I use a small caritool for the silky gomtaro, the zubat is hanging on a key biner and the MS200T hangs on a large caritool on the other side (right side) and the saw bungee cord is hooked on the large tool loops on the saddle. But to be honost I don't use the bungee cord at all with the tophandle ;-)

I've also broken all the carritools i had. Usually stepping up on limbs, catching the biner on something and snapping the thing in half. Personally i wouldn't even recommend their use hooked in the webbing on the waist belt, makes them too rigid and susceptible to snagging the way they orient on the saddle.

I've once broken the small one, hanging the MS640 in it. Ever since i've been using the big caritool for chainsaw and the little ones for handsaw and extra clip in gear.

If you climb with care, they way we should climb trough a tree without breaking all the fresh spouts etc it will not break easily. If you climb like a wild bull I would go for the alu version.....or metal caritool.

climb safe & sound

I think the Petzle carrytool is supposed to break in case someone attaches their saw lanyard to it and their saw gets caught in the piece that is falling.

Large Caritool through the webbing behind the D-ring with a black diamond biner through the webbing at the back centre point for attaching the lanyard.

Never broke the caritool in over a years use.

So no one has ever had to weasel their way through a hemlock with tight branch spacing, or gone for a swing and had something hang up in a pin oak? Please.

Yep, have had branches snag on it. Soon as I feel it I back up and remove the snag. I generally check to make sure my gear is clear before I go for a swing. Maybe I've got the one tough caritool that lasts as it was meant to.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'm going to use a kong paddle non locking carabiner in the center back for my attachment point..and just clip the other end into a caritool on my left or right side behind my dee rings.
I got another ? for sequoia users, I hope to hear from all who have replied to this thread..I'll start a new thread about it in a little while

I use the same clevis that come on the Butterfly saddles.
They are almost a perfect fit, and the screws fit flush so theres no snaging. And their cheap enough. Look @ Sherrill part number 30623.

be safe

Anybody know the rating on those small black plastic eyelets/hole thing on each side of the saddle..

RLEWIS thanks for the part # gonna order two of them tomm.
