Petzl Seqouia Saddle Rings

Whens a good time to replace these suckers? Aside from the paint being rubbed off everything is fine, no cracks and the locking screw never slips. Has anyone had any problems with these? How long have you kept them on your harness?

Like anything else regular inspection will tell you how when to replace them. My problem with my sequoia is the bridge and how quickly it seems to wear out! Kind of pricey to be replacing every 4 mths!

Yep the bridge is indeed not very resistant to treeclimbing :-)

I've replaced it with webbing sling and that seems to hold much longer.

The rings will be fine, paint is not loadbearing and will do no harm at all. Keep inspecting them daily and the hardware will probably last longer compared to all the soft-ware.

Yeah the bridge isn't the best, I put a new one on in the fall and its almost due up for a change, have you guys ever replaced your rings? How long have you had your saddles? How long until you think you will retire your saddle?

I've had Sequoias for just over a year. I had the first one replaced due to a defect in the bungee leg strap and the stitching coming apart on the bridge. Petzl sent me an new one and a ring for the bridge. It didn't make a difference to how quickly that bridge lost it's stitching again.

So, rings have never been an issue and I would expect them to last as long as the saddle is in use barring direct impacts. I tend not to replace saddles frequently so it may be around for 4 or more yrs. I may get a newer, cooler one before I need to retire this one!

Are you talking about the rings that connect the bridge? I didn't think those rings were available for purchase? Maybe I'm wrong?

The paint is actually anodizing which is a surface bonded coat. That is mostly for aesthetics though it toughens the surface to a point.

As far as replacement I would guess that it would be the same interval as for biners. Just a guess though.

I have replaced my bridge with a rope bridge tied to the rings. it works much better with a pulley as opposed to the ring I was using on the bridge.
