Petzl Adjustable Rope Bridge

I just got my petzl ARB in the mail and going through the informational booklet it can only be installed on one side? Is this true? I don't see why it would be interchangeable on either side? I have all my cutting tools (hand saw and chain saw) on the right side and would prefer not to have the slack loop from the bridge on that side but on the other side with my lanyard.

Has anyone spoken to petzl about this or have any experiences?

I have the Adjust device also on the left side and for sure this is possible and not forbidden.

Guess you are confused because of this picture:

In my understanding it means that you have to be careful that the Adjust device is at the same side as the tail and not at the side where the head is. For sure we don't want to build a bridge with the slack loop ;).

So if you place the Adjust device AND the tail to the left side then everything is ok (IMHO).

This diagram simply means that if you move it from right to left you also need to turn it "upside" down.

I think this little joke it is no cause to be abusive. BTW I am left handed too.
Sorry if you have felt attacked, that wasn't my intention!

And also sorry Richard that my explanation was to long for you. I promise that I will restrain myself in the future and let the native speakers give the explanations.

Don't worry, if there's a left handed joke out there, I promise you, I've heard it. No problem, I'm not only thick headed but even thicker skinned. I grew up in a home of 6 and I was the only lefty. So I say,"Bring it on, Baby!"
MMWAHAHAHA!!!

@yoyoman I want to apologize. I don't know why you have quoted my post for your contribution BUT I should know you well enough that you never ever intended any offense with it. I owe you so much because of your countless publications that educated me in climbing and therefore I sincerely hope that you accept my apology.

I think I missed something, ( not unusual for me) no problem and nothing to apologize for, all good.

Richard what is your verdict in this adjustable bridge? I have a sequoia on mothballs for a year or so, I didn't like the really short bridge for doubled ropes so I've been riding my old tree Magic into the ground. Do you like it better than the adjustable bridge you had on you tube with the ropeman grab?
Also, can you tell me if it is basically the same product as the petzl adjustable progress lanyard? http://shop.absafe.com.au/products/...xguPqFUGG48RqZdsTZgXP0KPSLOmeH6a_0aAqHj8P8HAQ

Thanks

The CT RollNLock is so easy to open and release, I was hoping the Petzl would operate while loaded like when I'm connected on a ventral attachment point but it will not. I have not found anything I like more than the CT on a rigging paw.

Personally I prefer the petzl, but everyone's going to have their own preference.

Ok thanks mate. That ct looks a lot like a kong duck, do you think that would fit the bill? (I have one handy) perhaps I could capture the rope inside and then hook it on the petzl open ring thing, anybody tried this?

I got a compact bulldog bone and I'm now loving the sequoia anyway, (kind of odd since I elected not to get the srt model eh... ) still I like a much longer bridge for doubled rope so I can push the hitch up higher and I'm a long way from ready to srt for every job. Thanks for your help
