I hate to even reply or engage in a guessing game of what happened. Never planned for my post to go down this path. I told what I know happened, obviously there was a tremendous buildup of pressure at the point where the tree was broken or further up in the crown where it was hung that caused the bole to launch back at me. Thought I covered that up front. The bigger picture, for me anyway, is the comlete process, inspection of the tree pre cut, cutting plan, and rescue plan. Merry Christmas to all, especially you Riggs- May the joy of the season flow from your fingers as it always seems to. Maybe one day you'll invite us to your glass house? I must stop lest I fall further from grace, thanks to all for the good vibes and happy holidays. Stay safe.

Seriously my man , I thought this tree hit your shoulder not your head . My glass house is this , well since , get a calendar here , 1927 ,my fathers company , till now . I don't know anyone who dropped a tree on themself . Ok , it happened to you . My glass house ( I'm biting my tongue here ) I've been doing this since I was a boy . a traditional notch ( slant /slant/ cut) never hurt me . You come on the internet for inner peace and you are in denial because you didn't know what you were doing! . Put the boxing gloves on the puppy !!! All your plan(s) failed , Next time you need a cyber hug just ask , don't bulls*t about what happened . You played games with a failed tree and you had the wrong plan . Dinner at my glass house is around 6 pm est. . On another note , I know many men who can't do there job anymore because of work related injuries , firemen , roofers , electricians . Yours is the worst ? not ! They know what happened , and if I get hurt I'll tell you what happened . Just for you, I typed this response with my left hand , Merry Christmas . Real sorry about your accident. I agree with the posts saying that NONE of us are invincible, and complacency can set in for everyone. In my humble opinion, let me suggest 3 things.

1. God can still use you, perhaps in ways you've never considered.

2. Your accident quite possibly saved someone else. Who else may have been complacent or not focused that day, yet they heard your story and took the extra time they should have, or made sure there was another set of eyes on their project?

3. Even if the worse happens (no more climbing, etc.), you still have your mind and the tree knowledge/experiences from these many years. That does count for something. Noticing what so many have said about you, I'm sure you'll be able to make it work. Look at what all of our wounded Warriors are doing with missing parts and damaged bodies.

No, in no way are they involved. I was saying I threw stones and may have broke one of his windows, so I invite him to make the call and see if she'd bring him in for a safty meeting and talk about/shed light on his mishap.
 
I 'm throwing up up now . Listen , A friend of mines son , just wrecked his car the day after christmas . He broke his legs , arms , compression on his spine , hip and pelvis broke . He never lost Consciousness , he 'll live . When asked what happened he didn't say " I don't know what happened " he said "I was going too fast ." 20 years old , five days ago and his life is forever changed . He know's what happened to him . My point is , some of you young tree climbers are speeding and need to slow down . 2010 , I started in 1981 ( not counting kid years) If you drop a tree on yourself , step up and say what happened , and if anyone has a problem with me saying or asking , bite me . Happy New Year. You can't jump down homeowner mishaps and look to God when one of us makes a mistake ( I didn't say that , did I? ) Tree work is a tough job , The only thing I learned from this mishap is that I'm the biggest Ahole and half of you Love God and we still don't know why he dropped a tree on himself . and Limbwalker I saw your truck @ the ITCC , parked in the hotel . I washed your tire around one in the morning , no charge , on me .
