Pancake update

These accident stories could be the most important use of these forums. Keeps us on our "A" game. I'd think too much ridicule could make people hesitant to post their incidents.

No my man , I ;m just bitter about the BS. TMW has got you and this whole buzzworld brainwashed . TMW is responsible for this thread and my replies but he won't speak up because he is waiting for the next homeowner to screw up . Shame on you people , and I am sorry pancake but your case is what is wrong with this awakenings section . The tree hit the professional tree climber because he made a bad move . Bottom line , other than that we wouldn't be talking about it . My son , smashed my truck with a plow down a ditch on new years eve and destroyed my plow and truck . He was going to fast , he feels bad , my truck has 6 k damage , I feel bad . Own up to your mistakes , it doesn't just happen . If you drop a tree on your self , the tree was there until you placed a saw into it . Now it falls on you and its all about God ? Please . I know you people have more sense than this and shame on you TMW for not chiming in . Boreality , A game ? tell me how he dropped a tree on himself ? how do you think he dropped a tree on himself ? Seriously , this is the world wide web , www , I asked , no reply . Peace , love, and harmony. Give me a break . TMW destroyed the awakenings thread , he took it to a homeowner level. I am a professioanl tree worker and I have told you I am not on a home owner level . Is Pancake a homeowner or a professional ? You in the know , know the answer. So bite me ! I am not bitter , I just want the truth . You can't learn nothing from sorrow and lies !

Pancake,

Keith: Please continue to heal, continue to persue your career with whatever capacity you have. Haven't had the pleasure of meeting you but I have read many of your posts, and at least one of your articles. It's clear to me that your strength has always been on the thoughtful side of arboriculture, the literate side of the industry. It is clear in this thread that your thinking is undamaged, that you still have a facility with words, can convey your thoughts concisely.

This is good.

Never mind that you can post up here about your very bad day, have demands put to you in pointal lists, then respond most forthrightly and succinctly to every single point, and STILL be subjected to a demand for more.

One can only suspect that your audience lacked the literacy to comprehend.

Leave them behind, as you move ahead.

Riggs, please don't bring TMW into this.

This thread is about Pancate's injury. Let's try not to derail the post.

TMW hasnt been around for afew weeks, close to a month. I find it hard to believe he is responsible for this thread.

Or do you mean he is responsible because he posts the accidents, which in turn makes others feel comfortable posting their accidents, which in turns make you feel scared beacause our industry is going to be come focused on accidents and not arboricultre? Thats what I got from reading the last 6 pages of your posts.

I agree with most things you say, and yo uare definitely talented, I just dont see the connection between a failed work plan by Pancake and TMW. Next thing, youre going to blame John Ball too!

It sounds pretty straight forward what happened. What else could there be to explain? I can picture the accident clear as day in my head. Trees are tricky and can take out the best of us.

Riggs, you sound dangerous, I am thankful I dont have to work anywhere near you and I feel bad for the people that do. Hopefully your arogance is just of the internet variety and you dont really think you invincible in real life.

This is an awful accident that couldnt have happened to a better person. Thank you for posting the accident and I wish you the best in your healing process. Take care Keith.

Me too Bull. I'll be very interested in reading Pancake's article.

he tried to cut down a tree with a comprimised top. the top broke and came down on him while he was underneath it. What part of the story doesnt add up?
I have had deadwood from trees i was dropping rain down on me while I was just makeing the face cut! It is real easy to end up in the awakenings section doing the kind of work we do especially since we happen to all be humans.

I owuld like to know escape path, felling direction, how far the tree fell before top broke free, were there obstacles, was the tree felled with weight of top so it folded like an accordian, or against weight so it pushed th etop further into the snag?

Theres something missing to me..........

Because of one discussion thread on the boards we're brainwashed?? I don't think so. Awakenings is 1% of the discussion if that. From a business standpoint it's a good source of info regarding homeowner accidents that reinforce why professionals should be hired.

There have been plenty of pros or part-timers reported as well. Those reports are what we need to pay attention to. Without denigrating the person but dissecting the accident can we learn how they occur and what if anything could be done to prevent it. We can compare it to our own work environments and practices to see if there is room for improvement.

If it "awakens" us or more importantly re-awakens us then it's useful. It's not about fear but maintaining a healthy respect for the dangers of our trade.

Riggs, try to be a little more tactful and you may get a better response. As the saying goes, "you get more with honey than vinegar."

Edit: Reason: Too much negativity, my bad.

I think what Riggs wants is for Pancake to say the bore cut lead to the injury or that he did something else to compromise his safety so that we all can learn from it and not let it happen to ourselves or our crew. Was the bored hinge to thin and the tree not hold the stump? No one but Keith knows the answer when he is ready he'll tell all or he won't; it is america and we all have the freedom to speak or not to speak. So Riggs comes off a little harsh, so what. Give him a taste of his own medicine, he likes it when you do that. I think we can learn a lesson from Riggs: DON'T WEAR YOUR FEELINGS ON YOUR SLEEVE. Some dudes just come off hard, it doesn't mean that their bad people or have bad intensions.

aka Don't hide your light under a bushel for fear of causing someone to squint.

But also the light-er is responsible for modifying voltage to avoid blinding a lot of people.

I've had several serious accidents, all with a big dose of human error. Survived by luck, and disabilities that were judged permanent turned out not to be.

I hope this winter is a healing time for Keith, physiologically and psychologically, so he can regain his good energy.

Well, I'm waiting for Pancake's article and for TMW to join in, since I understand that he's now finished with his exams. He'll probably have the decency though to start a new thread.

I say twelve rounds, in the Quercus of their choosing, full PPE, bore cuts with a Dutchman, last one on the ground in a homeowner's backyard wins!

I'm waiting for that article too. F all you people who think that this is deserving of an article and the man can't even say how it happened . Learn from this thread here , bulls*it will always get you hurt . This is tree buzz , the dude ( pancake) totally made the wrong cut and the tree fell on him . It doesn't happen to everybody , but if he was a homeowner we would have let him have it . Pancake has family and is a tree man , double standards . 28 yrs here , never dropped a tree on myself , whos article do you want to read ? TMW , hes got it going on . EZ , funny guy < read that one . Tom D , never dropped a tree on himself . Mark C , never dropped a tree on himself . Pancake slams a tree on himself and why it happened isn't a question , cause he's a good guy . F u , I am a tree guy from birth , step up or step down . I don't mean to hurt the mans feelings but he f d up . Trees don't just fall on people . Accidents do happen , but sometimes accidents get a bad name . I'm done with this thread and I think pancake is lame and TMW is just as lame . Four fingers down on both hands! guess which ones are up !
