The Master’s scores (from memory) were low, partially to a short time limit of 22 minutes.

Congrats to Matt & all the other competitors.

Great work by all the volunteers & sponsors !
Lots of help !!!; including: Brent Dring (Chair), Dixie Russell (OH Chapter Exec), etc, etc, …….. too many ! ! !

Matt Cornell, congrats buddy.

Twenty-two minutes? You've got to be kidding! Did any of the set-up crew run it less than 22 minutes?

Those are the lowest Master's Challenge scores I have EVER seen, with exceptions of DQ's.

The Master’s tree was setup in the same tree as the Work Climb.
After the WC stations were removed, 3 Master’s stations were installed (2 handsaw & a plumb-bob).
I’m not positive, but I don’t think a trial run was made by the setup crew.
The TCC Head Judge did ask the tree techs & judges if 22 min. was appropriate.
In retrospect it was, obviously, not nearly enough time. All 3 climbers timed out.

One of the handsaw stations was not attempted by any of the 3 climbers. The bell was level with or slightly above, a “preferred” central TIP. This would have required a separate TIP, or numerous rope advancement steps.

The plumb-bob station was on a very difficult, “bouncy”, limb.
It could have been done w/ a redirect from a limb, approx. 30 ft above; but no one tried that approach.

None of the participants seemed upset. In fact during the pre-climb inspect, the climbers were suggesting to each other, “good” throw-line locations, etc.

Overall, it was a very nice competition.

No trial run was made. It was a pretty scant setup crew that we had on Friday, and a limited selection of trees for a Masters. 22 min left no time to mess around, thats for sure. I could see someone getting two stations and gear out in 22 if they had hustled.
