Obama's getting too much attention...

Re: Obama\'s getting too much attention...

i want to clear myself on this one, i agree everyone should make a profit and a substantial profit but companies who are screaming bail-out and giving big bonuses makes you irritated, we as a tax-payer help bail, but the ceo is still making millions in profits that would be my beef on pathetic bonus. if you earn it and you busted your a$$ to get it well it is yours. as long as you did not step on the consumer especially a poor one to get it well i wish you all the best.

[/ QUOTE ]

couldnt agree more, if we bailed you out, take the industry standard salary, and no bous until your co. pays back the american people.

If you are a self sustained business, no taxpayer loans, make all the profits you want. Consumers are free to support any company they want.

canada, germany, sweden, all have long wait times, piss poor diagnostics, and no choice of doctors. France wants the patient to prepay for major surgeries then reimburse. is this where we are headed?

and please explain to me why nationalizing student loans was part of this bill?

[/ QUOTE ]

Wow that's alarming, let's get some Swedish, French, German and Canadians on here to back it up.

The student loan thing... I couldn't care less.

banjo you put up a lunj of att big profits.

Ummm..... What dude? I don't know what you mean.

When corporations become as big as they are allowed to they become what our govt considers to big to fail, that's not a democrat or republican thing, its just the way it is, but it is scary. Why do you so vehemently despise government helping these companies but support the economic philosophy that allows them to get that big? Is it that American dream thing where you think you will someday, maybe, have so much money that you will be in that one percent.

Here is a breakdown of how American wealth is spread among our nation.

http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html

I'm not going to be an ideological foot soldier for those whose wealth I will never have.

Health care costs are not going to drive business out of America. If they would, nobody would be doing business in first world countries, because they all already have universal health care. What do you have to say about that?

[/ QUOTE ]

I meant link, sorry I was posting from my cell.

What do you care how big a co. gets? If the consumer doesnt like their practices, services, or reps, DONT SUPPORT THEM! AT&T does NOT have the cell market cornered in thhis country to the point where they cant fail.

Sorry Bull, wouldn´t change our (Norwegian) system with yours for anything. I really don´t see your point, do you really want to live in a society where the dogma is "as long as I and my family are fine - screw the rest"? And for god sake - could anyone here please define the word socialism??

[/ QUOTE ]

Its not about screw the rest silly Euroboy.

Its about dont take advantage of me and my family. Meaning dont force me to pay for lazy freeloaders. I have no problem paying for the less fortunate through taxes. I currently do it, and agree with most of the programs currently in use. I feel the US welfare system is a complete failure, and needs a serious revamp though!!!

This new bill wont help that situation one bit.

Bull isn't very well familiar with the health care law recently enacted. Not if he's unaware of the student loan ammendments. He hasn't read it, yet repeats the "seeing Russia from my front porch" mentality.

Was it Cheney who maintained that Saddam was part and parcel to 9/11...and is still saying it? That one went over well with the shallow gene pool people, I still hear it from them.

There isn't any "nationalization" on the loan programs, they were set-up by the government for students, given away to the private banks by Reagan and both Bush's and finally gets to come home again, available to the people and from the people. Affordable interest rates instead of loan sharking rates over 25, 26, even 28 percent.

Can't figure out why a disjointed few believe America is for the wealthy who get wealthy by running the government to their liking, taking our money, responsible to no one and have the freedoms of no regulation or accountability.

Some laws starting that should prevent another economic catastrophy, reining-in the careless investments and stopping the guarantees against failures the GOP has handed over to the fattest of the Fortune 500 for every term they've served.

What's so scary about starting some controls to areas where greed and fraud has cost America what we're never able to get back again?

The fear factor from the right - we're going to Stalinize the whole enchilada!! Saddam did 9/11, and colored people don't need the internet.

Re: Obama\'s getting too much attention...

Boston,

Here in Scotland we've got the National Health Service, a publicly funded healthcare system that has 158,000 staff - 47,500 nurses, midwives and health visitors, 3,800 consultants/surgeons. 12,000 doctors, family practitioners and allied health professionals, including dentists, opticians and community pharmacists, who operate as independent contractors providing a range of services within the NHS in return for fees and allowances.

All free at the point of contact to the public. Now, for a country with a population of 5 million thats quite an achievement dont you agree?

It's not perfect, far from it, but it can make the difference between life and death/pain and comfort, illness and cure.

Also, dont forget, In Scotland you can completely bypass the NHS and go private if you want, but what makes me sick is that all the private consultants/nurses/doctors used the NHS for gaining their qualifications, training and experience.

Seems as though they are saying the banks are no longer involved in the lending, only the USA.

Instead of having private citizens lend the Govt funds, we will have Govt employees lending the funds. I am sure that this program will be far more streamlined, and the Govt employees salaries and packages will be far cheaper than the private sector. Just like all the other Govt run programs we currently have.
