No winter?

Minneapoli/St Paul have an international reputation for being the blizzard and sub zero winter cities...with wonderful lakes in the summer.

We are forecast to have another record warm day tomorrow...60 degrees. We already had a record warm December.

Hard to maintain any sort of regional pride without winter
Ottawa wasn't able to open the Rideau for skating last year at all because they didn't get enough ice, this year they were able to get ten days total and they called an end to the season last night. They're looking at ways to try and shoot slush into the canal in late fall to try and build enough ice each year in the future and talking about drones and other things but it seems like the days of the skateway are numbered. Maybe it'll become a once every few years phenomenon

I skated the canal about 30 years ago, rented skates, near frostbite, warm up shacks. It was different.
30 years ago I was learning to skate on the canal. You may have seen me. Bright baby blue one piece snowsuit, black hat, white gloves, and holding my grandpa's kitchen chair. I remember it being cold that day.

We are having wild swings, mid 50’s to upper. Dipped a while back about a month ago to 20, with ice, back up a few days later.
Late last week got hit by a unpredicted windstorm in the upper 50mph range. That rolled into 1/2” hail and grouple, which accumulated, night before last it snowed 4-7” of wet sticky stuff, nearly gone by that afternoon. Now it’s warm probably will hit low 50’s and wind warnings of 40-50 all day. Woke me at 3:30am.
Plants are freaking out, some species seem to be about a month to month and a half early. We have a AZ cypress full on throwing pollen.

Similar here, we had an un-forcasted snow storm a few weeks ago that was insane. It was supposed to be rain with little to no accumulation but instead we got this crazy heavy snow storm.
