No throwball , can't climb it!

Re: No throwball , can\'t climb it!

I agree. Use whatever technique makes the most sense for the task. If the tree is an easy "start from the bottom" type of climb, why throw? Safety first of course, productivity second. I do not believe in spiking trees though. I'd rather shinny with a lanyard than spike a tree that isn't being removed.

my boss is kind of a wannabe hippie spaz....he comes up with some interesting solutions to some of our problems...and by interesting i mean completly ridiculous and worthy of a punch to the throat

wow a punch to the throat, thats a step above the normal punch in the mouth that most people get

ya know sadly some of the hippies were right, the mills closed hills slid, and single line really is a cool way to get in a big tree over body thrustin or foot lockin

and some were and are verry wrong
and just need to go back to watering plants

new tools they help if you know their limits and understand their use and maintainance

it seems to me that you all have a lot to learn about SRT and the changes it can make in your professionalism, demeanor, and bank account. Many, many pro arbos have started to place three, four, even five lines in a medium sized spreading canopy, sometimes, with a hanger pole, sometimes with a throw ball, and sometimes with a good old fashion boo-yah!
