Newly Designed Line Boss!

I'm impressed with the new design with the Line Boss. It looks promising for DRT.

But, I don't think it will advance along the line in SRT that well. The rope bend would make the advancing the unit a little difficult. (I think).

The makers of the Line Boss are thinkers and innovators. They are willing to make changes to improve their product.

Some one here should buy one and make a great video review.

It seems like the riope will burn the hand when descending? Or am I viewing the picture wrong? if it isnt the case I may buy one for crane descents. We burn through friction cord far too fast!

I thought that too. But they have a handle on the side.

Check this. <----- Scroll down when you get there.

It looks really nice.Ive been seeing those guys for the last few years at the itcc tradeshow. The product looks to improve every year.Ive been waiting for the lb to take off but maybe the price is really limiting that.Ive tested it out a couple times and like it.

Hmmm, I would like to see one of those!

We must be in some kind of gear innovation explosion or something.

Looks very nice to me. The cost is all that turns me off about it, and other mechanicals. Maybe I am just cheap, but just can't justify the cost when I can get a hitch cord to do essentially the same thing for $30 or less.

I heard that one of the advantages is that the parts don't wear as fast. Who knows fer sure though. I'd like to give it a shot, I sent them an e-mail to find out what their return policy is.

Whew! I just saw the price! That is a bunch of money.

I suspect they're gonna have a no return policy on 'opened'/used climbing gear, but ya never know - it's worth the email!

Can't you buy 4 GriGri's for that price, with some change left over? Unless the climber isn't heavy enough, I think that a GriGri would work just find for crane descents with a ring and ring. Maybe they would need a ring and pulley FC if they are lightweight.

We dont use friction savers during crane work, and Grigris didnt respond well when we tried them. Weve tried everything, and keep coming back to hitch cord. The Lineboss is worth a shot.

When on the crane I back my hitch up with an F8 Revolver to the clevis on my BFII and dont have the problems with burning the hitch up. I normally get that all set up when the crane is taking the pick away. Hitch $12, Revolver $40, F8 $15. Lineboss $425. Savings $383... Priceless.

Why not SRT? There are a myriad of descenders with lock off features along the lines of GriGri or I'd that are not expensive.

The Rig would be superb for that application.

A Gri-Gri cannot do this... But, I too e-mailed the guys to bring their price down. If they matched the Unicenders new price, it would be a lot better.

I've known Thane, the VP, for years. I first saw the LB at the 2007 ISA Honolulu conference. I found kinda finicky. Maybe the redesigned unit is better. I'll give him a call, and see if they'll send me a unit in trade for marketing photos.....

I agree, I wouldn't pay $425 for one. It is more streamlined than the Uni, but only works for DbRT.

I have 'payed the pay' on June 22. Since than nothing but radio silence out of the Lineboss company.
Has anybody been in contact with this company or is it time for me to contact Visa to get the payment back.

Here is a nice view of the handle.

Did my payment and now this. IT'S AN OPTIONAL FEATURE...

Now let's hope it takes them so long just to screw the optional handle on as a standard for the same price.
