Hi,

My co-worker, also a enthusiastic bee keeper asked me if I knew the name of this very common tree you find everywhere in New York City manhattan. Im hoping someone here can post the name/species of it.

Looks like Japanese pagoda tree, Styphnolobium japonicum, formerly Sophora japonica as I learned it in college.

Hi JD3K,

Thanks for reply. I'm going to search google for this type of tree and compare it to my photos. Is there any other way I can be certain this is the that type of tree?

After further research, I found a list of trees that are legal in NYC public area. It's a perfect match to your suggestion. The pictures on google are exact match, it's also flowering white flowers June/July, and its under the list of NYC legal trees for public city parks. I attached a screenshot of the list I found. Thanks again, help is appreciated.

Here the link of those trees
