new toro stx 26 dedicated stump grinder

What is the width of the machine? It looks good for what it's designed for. Maybe it'll kick Rayco, Vermeer, and the others in the butt to advance their controls to single lever.

Good luck with it!

If you COMPARE it to any other unit in its class (sc 252, Rayco Junior, small Carlton, Kandu, etc.), you will likely see what I mean.

All that really matters is that you are happy with your new stumper and it works well for you. But I'm curious, have you actually run a Kandu stumper? I have been using them for almost 20 years and I'm on my second one. These machines will fit through a 30" opening and with the 37 hp Kohler engine, will absolutely smoke a stump. A 30" stump takes about 8 to 10 minutes.

Sorry, tried to post a picture and it didn't work. Will try again later.

I have run a Kandu and a friend of mine has had one since they came on the market and it is an absolutely great machine. I just like this for what it does for me more. Also about $3500 cheaper.

Here is the Rayco unit said to be a little top heavy I have heard thru the grapevine. No joystick etc.

I love that little toro grinder, I used one for a few days last year and I was really impressed. If I had to buy one grinder that would probably be it. Small, compact, and you have a wide range of motion with the head.

Have fun with it! I love the joystick

Thanks Littlenick. How's work going? I think the job market has recovered since getting almost wiped out of work in 08 with our hurricane and tree work is booming again in Cinci.

Its been pretty good, have about 3 weeks of work left, which isnt bad compared to last year. I think things are finally getting back to normal (although I didnt really feel the hurt, Im not a big time company). I hope you got your old dump trailer back, or at least found a replacement!

Are you going to go to the seminar on the Asian Longhorned Beetle tomorrow?

3 weeks is great. Nothing wrong with a small company.

I got a lot more back than I paid for the stolen trailer as I got a real good deal on it, so I am shopping. I am gonna pass on the ALB seminar...kinda redundant with current EAB I think. We got a nice job going at Jake Sweeney's house we have to finish or I would go. If you go let me know what you heard.

Thats good you got more for it! Smith trailer has some nice looking dumpers up there.

It seams like the ALB is similar to the EAB, ill pass what I hear onto you.

Im good friends with Walt and Mark. I do a lot of work for Mark and at his dealership, they are good people.

I rented one today. The reverse speed sucks. Aside from that it was a great machine. It took out a 4' oak stump in about 30 minutes. About a dozen 3' stumps and maybe 50 2'. It doesn't have the power to go straight through the large stumps. I had to work my way around them to make good time.

The steer linkage needs to be adjusted to bring the reverse speed up. Easy.
