Ive been away in the UK for a week just recently....actually demoing the product featured in the video at the APF forestry show. Before I went I bought a video camera with the intention of making the introductory video that Im posting here tonight. I decided earlier that I cant really afford to keep the camera, what with everything else Ive paid out just recently....and today was the last day of the 14 day return policy that the store offers on all of its goods. So I had to make the video in haste earlier yesterday, and get it back to he store before it closed. As a result the video is not very refined. There is no rehearsed script, and I speak slowly so to give me time to think where each sentence is leading. Anyway, I got the camera back to the store in time and got my refund!!!

If you have a GRCS already then the product perhaps wouldnt be a step forward....but if not, depending on your circumstances and budget, it might be something to consider.

15 minutes duration.

Thanks

No need for apologies Reg, the vid is fine. Emailed you but wondering if you will sell the winch separately so I could add it on to my standard old school strap on bollard? Seems like that option would be in effect if someone lost the attaching winch or had it stolen etc. Great price if that is what it will be.

It seems like you could design a single sided, or swinging side plate rope grab to replace the prussik. It might speed up (be more efficient) attachment to the host rigging line, but it would add more cost. Just brainstorming, I love the concept and design, I use the Stein Dual regularly and its only downfall is its not really built for efficient lifting like this new one seems to be. I'm also curious how much rope is in the winch, seems like you could maximize lifting distance by pushing the prussik up with a pole saw or other extension. Thanks for the demo video.

Thanks guys.

I think theres about 17 feet of line in the one Im using. Theres room for more but Ive only been using it for short lifts.

Dave, I'll email you. Im pretty sure the separate option will be available, but I cant speculate on the compatibility with you're existing bollard. The frame to which the winch is bolted to is obviously custom made to ideally position it in-between but clear of our 2 right fair leads.

Ive been using the untra teck cord. Took it up and past 3000lbs with no slipping or scorching.

I could definitely make a quick release grab.... but the points of contact would have to be spread out a ways to avoid potential damage in the event of a shock load. Its a nice idea, but adds an extra element of risk. Protecting and tending the rigging line is paramount, really.....I need the friction hitch/winch line to give up first. The winch in the vid will also be replacing the lever-grab on the Dual.

Mr Reg, that was a nice informative vid...for the amount of removals I do, this would be a nice option over a GRCS....glad you put it together....I really need my own lifting device, as I do borrow a HOBBS on occasion....will be keeping an eye on this and listening for more feedback...thanks

Thanks Paul. A few things you might prefer over the Hobbs - 0ne man operation on the winch; not having to mess about with that big bar; and the fact that it has 2 fair leads on the way out....so you can use half wraps for finer control. The Hobbs (great tool that it is) has just one fair lead at the end of the spool....so you're committed to full wraps every time.

Nice to know Reg, I really like the simplicity....my ground guys are rough on stuff....seems like this will suit them just fine, plus I like the winch how easy to get on and off...I like the price range too...:D

Keep us posted as to how close you are to production/retail Reg. I'll prob just buy the whole thing. I had one bollard stolen and the one I have now I smashed and my welder guy made it twice as heavy when he fixed it.

Does that winch need to be used vertically or can it with with a redirect so the full length of winch cable horizontally?

I've only ever had a chance to use porti and block and tackle. How much does one of these or related products enhance work proficiency and ease on the worker?
