New RCW3001 Bollard by Stein.

GREATLY"KevinS, post: 397909, member: 4339"]I've only ever had a chance to use porti and block and tackle. How much does one of these or related products enhance work proficiency and ease on the worker?[/QUOTE]
GREATLY!

Does that winch need to be used vertically or can it with with a redirect so the full length of winch cable horizontally?

So long as the redirect is positioned from directly above then it'll work just fine. You better be sure 1500lbs is enough to pull the tree though. Because if the tree goes sidways, say, its gonna shock the hell out of the winch. Remember its a brake winch, forward and reverse, you cant let it run in the event of an overload. In a tree rigging/lifting situation its different, as its always backed up by the rigging line....of which the load can be transferred across at any time.

GRCS= $2,599 on treestuff

Nice option Reg!

Remember the $1150 on the RCW is just a rough guesstimate, off my own back. In the event it turns out to have been a little optimistic, you can just throw it back in my face right here:). I'll keep you posted.

Instead of using a prussic to attache the winch to the rigging line, a larger rope grab might be nice.

You might tuinkso because it's convenient to attach and remove. The issue is that some rope grabs do not have a good slip-grab design. Because of the cams they are likely to crush or damage the rigging line. It would be a challenge to have one that slips before the rigging line is damaged. Hitches do have a good history of being able to slip- grab though

I sent a note to Reg about using something like to Wild Country 'Hand' which was mad any years ago. It's a lot like a jam clear like you'd find on a sailboat. I'm not sure what the specs are on the Hand but that design could have potential

Any chance of a mini porty or something between a standard and the ole mini (on half inch double braid or dyneema)? You could lock it on the ears. Sure you would lose a little gain on the unwrap...but absolutely no rope damage.

Looking forward to this product release. A GRCS is still a little put of reach, but this should do everything I've ever needed one for anyway. I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there who have pit grown that winch ' s potential, but I ain't one of them...and this thing looks easy enough a caveman could do it.

Is this available yet Reg in the UK.....????
sorry Paul. Didnt notice your post. As Frank says, available in the US now....at least through Wespur and Treestuff that Im aware of at the present time. I can only assume the likes of FR Jones, Honey Brothers UK and others will get their delivery anytime too. It used to be the other way around when the gear was manufactured in the UK, but now its California based. Thanks again, and sorry for delay with the whole thing.
