New Log Truck

8K for the wireless remote!!? That's some crazy remote control!!

Tell me about it. The computer and remote option is $8K.

Oh, and the tool boxes are $500 each and don't forget the 17K for the dump body.

Still, it is definitely worth the money. We will make it back 10 fold before that truck is retired (or I am /forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif).

I'm deeply, DEEPLY jelous. Nice to see you went for a proper european grapple Mark ;-)

Yeah, I think that the Kinshofer is the best out there- especially the 634! Very compact yet fiesty. And the hoses and pistons are very well protected.

Re: New Load Truck

Yes, Aspen must be doing well, but their gonna be doin alot better now with that bad boy on their team.

Glad I don't have to compete with them!!

I did'nt realise Kinshoffer made timber grapples. My current grapple truck runs a loglift grapple, but the best I've had was by Hultdins.

Tell me though, I look at the boom trucks you guys can get ( none available at all in the UK) and reckon that would be Cheaper and more usefull, apart from the grapple option.

Why go for the knuckleboom? (or maybe you already have a boom truck) /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: New Load Truck

Hultdins was my second choice. But, when both of the final bidders who were going to build the truck recommended Kinshofer, I was convinced as well.

I actually was first going for the Loglift Z loader. Then I started pricing things a bit and found out that the new Prentice on similar rig was $160K, about the same for the Loglift. The negative is they only reach 31'-33' That's good, but if I can get a 56' reach with more capacity for another $20K+, seems logical to me. Plus we'll have the option of using it to grab standing trunks as well.

The reason we didn't get a Boom crane was that we needed another log truck more than a boom crane. This won't replace a boom crane, but we won't have to bring one in just for the wood either.

Re: New Load Truck

Very nice, but there goes your quick lunch trip via McDonalds drive thru!

Do you do logging or something for a rig like that? I'm just a suburban tree guy and wonder what exactly you have in mind or do with that.

Re: New Load Truck

Craig, don't you have some bison to eat or something? /forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Eric, I am in the suburban type of arboriculture as well. We just have plenty of trees to remove, so this truck will help us speed it up. Plus, here in the US you either spend it or give it back! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Bison is all gone and has been disposed of in the throne a long time ago. I did however upgrade my audio system tonight though, I bought a most awesome Hovland preamp............. /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: New Load Truck

A big grab truck can make urban jobs VERY quick and easy. Hers a pic of a Lelandii we did in 20 minutes with our grapple truck. we were the cheapest quote on this job at $500.

Re: New Load Truck

I think I'm going to replace my truck in the next few weeks, this time I want a grab truck with similar knuckleboom, but a hooklift system for lifting 40 yard bins, and a 28000lbs drawbar trailer to move my other machines

I'm jealous, both for some bison (that's some red meat I'd eat!!) and a chance to cup my ears to some o' yo tunes! That sounds like you're up in Babcock's range for audio gear...well, maybe not quite, as his system is prolly into 6 figures....

Re: New Load Truck

I am getting there Roger. I was looking at a beautiful Classe Omega 450W stereo amp to go along with the Hovland (a match made in heaven), but my wife would have done something..........not nice! Well, there is always next year. Good thing it is just over a week away. She said I was allowed a piece per year!

Re: New Load Truck

When you replace the loglift, will you get another? Or something different?

Our new rig has a hitch w/ air brakes hook up for a trailer. We are going to use this truck to move our ROW machines when we need to. Right now we move one at a time. Since this truck has trailer hook ups, we'll run two at a time.

One thing I'm wondering is if Kinshofer makes the grapple for loglift? They look real close.

Re: New Load Truck

or loglift build the grapple for Kinshoffer? over here kinshoffer just sell brick/block grapples...

If I get a replacement, it'll be whatever comes up best on the used market. No new trucks for this little outfit again /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

nice rig chizzy /forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif do you have a driver for it? i'm in the area if you need a driver. /forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Real funny Punk! /forum/images/graemlins/bangtard.gif For everyone that doesn't know yet, Smokey works with me and will likely run this truck as much as anyone else at Aspen!

I ran it today again for a while and am a lil intimidated by it. It's just sooooo big. I feel strange running it and walking around with the remote. We'll see how it goes?
