WHAT DOES THE COURSE COVER?

THE ISA ARBORIST CERTIFICATION PREPARATORY COURSE CURRICULUM WAS DEVELOPED BY A TEAM OF ARBORICULTURAL PROFESSIONALS AND EDUCATORS WITH YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN LEADING URBAN FORESTRY, ARBORICULTURE, AND HORTICULTURE TRAINING PROGRAMS AT THE LOCAL, STATE, FEDERAL, AND NON-PROFIT LEVELS. THERE ARE SEVENTEEN MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE ISA CURRICULUM COVERED. A VARIETY OF FORMATS ARE PRESENTED INCLUDING LECTURES, WORKSHOPS, MULTI-MEDIA PRESENTATIONS, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, GROUP EXERCISES, AND REAL-LIFE SCENARIOS.

I didn't read that far down. Oh my!!! That is nuts. Most community colleges charge less than that per semester for a full time student.

I hope they are paying the instructors well! You can find other, MUCH more reasonable courses here:

I didn't see any Ohio courses on there, but we usually have several per year - at least one in conjunction with the Ohio Tree Care Conference. I helped teach at one hosted in Bowling Green last winter...just volunteer. If I find out they were charging participants 3 large and I didn't get a slice of that, we're gonna talk - lol!
 
Yeah Ohio has prep courses and a scholarship to pay for it if you get it. Info at chapter website.

And yes, you can get college credits for less...
 
Further down it says $2500...? Skimmed it and saw a few typos; my favorite: DISCUSS THE PROCESS OF THREE RISK ASSESSMENTS, as if 2 is not enough?

Anyway I wish him well. A rising tide (of profit) floats all boats?

You would have a larger market in reasonable travel distance compared to Wyoming...but not quite the scenery to go with the course.
