Too bad they frown on 2-cycle engines in her research plots; no wraptor no ascend for me.

Canopy research nalini nadkarni (2007 notes)
Looking Upward and Outward—the idea that understanding trees is important and exciting.
Science—Scio—to know the fullest extent possible. Latin Scrabble?
Academic Understanding can supplement practical understanding
Canopy = Interstices of air etc
30n years of scientific progression in canopy research, triggered by technological developments
1980s—spraying insecticide to assess arthropods
climbing strategies balloons cranes
Progression of Science—Questions from development. Canopy science shows a lot of lessons on the importance of trees. Tree by tree,
Pattern—observations of adaptation---ecology—epiphytes drink minerals carried in atmosphere
33 tons per hectare, 5x folage, acidic and low nutrients but trees grow roots into moss duff.

Birds specialize on epiphytes. When removed, epiphytes do not grow back for 12 years to start, 16 to regrow
to process—nutrient capacitors—60% of N stays in canopy
to prediction. Trees and forests are interface between atmosphere and biosphere. Golden toad extinct due to climate change. Mists are higher so when plants are moved down to lower mist levels they die.

Nice, Guy. The time it takes for epiphytes to regrow is amazing. We've got a good amount of fruiticose lichen in our area, but it mostly occurs on stressed or dying trees. There are only a few trees that I've seen around here that even begin to show the amount biodiversity within the canopy as trees in southern climes do. Trees. Patience. Time.
