Need your Vote and Opinion about business owners not willing to learn to climb.

Do you know a tree service business owner who never climbed a tree for work purposes?

Fairly common in Arboriculture for team members to expect/require aerial skill from their leaders. This may be misguided depending on the players. Ultimately the effectiveness of the leader will be revealed, wether they have aerial tenure or not.

See laws #1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 10, 13, 15, 18

Ultimately they all apply, but to me the above have bearing on the original post

Thanks for posting this PDF document. I've only read part of it so far, but it is really interesting reading. I know this is an old thread, but that is the power of the continuity of this forum. New people can find old threads and still learn from what was discussed years ago.

Thanks again.

To me it's just like a groundie who never has saddled up, or the business owner who has never left the ground. If they are demanding or suggesting how the job should be done they need to keep their mouth shut. Experience counts not what someone thinks how it should be done. Other than that it really doesn't matter what their skills are. I personally would like the owner to have the experience. It helps them with their estimates also.

It helps with the estimate to an extent. They will estimate to their level instead of the crew's. That's where the feedback from the crew to the owner/estimator is important.
