Mysterious tree in India

A professor sent this by e-mail. Pretty wild looking tree. Here was the text that came with the e-mail:

At a glance you may be confused the above tree with a massive trunk with a 'Baobab'tree (which is renowned to possess the largest tree trunks of the world) but, this is yet
another unknown specie which is seen in the close proximity of a hermitage deep in the dense forest in 'Andra Pradesh' in India.

ID...concrete, metal, and plastic. Gets power washed regularly. I've worked on many of the surrounding trees but that one doesn't get pruned.

It's funny because another professors sent a response e-mail saying that the tree had carvings of animals that were not native to or found in India....

I know that tree.....it is in Africa not India. All I can say is that it has alot of critters living on it.

I am glad you said worked not pruned:>

I'm no expert but I think treehumper nailed it (pardon the pun). I wish I had better photos of the Tree of Life at Disney to help his case, but his photo is pretty damning. It is a beautiful sculpture though. I've always wished they did a better job on the color of the leaves.
