I don't think you'll be disappointed in the Woodchuck, they're almost a carbon copy of a Bandit machine. And I think you'll love the 3.9 Cummins, they're really good little engines!

Yes the 4bt Cummins is a fantastic 'little' engine. I used to have two 6bt 12v diesels. They are pioneers of the "light" duty series.

Well this is my "big" engine lol. The chipper I just replaced was a 6" with 22hp gas engine. Just curious, does anyone know the hp of this series of cummins?

The chipper came without any manuals so I am searching for any and all info I can find on it. I know Altec has a owner/operators manual and a parts manual that I will be ordering.

You can get a cummins manual directly through the nearest dealer in your area. All cummins are tuned for different HP ratings depending on the application. The beauty of the bt series is they are easy to turn up the power. That's what makes them so popular in the light duty truck world. Careful when bumping up the HP though. Dumping more fuel in requires supporting mods. I'd leave it at it's stock rating for your chipper. There's a tag on the timing cover that should display it's HP rating.

Thanks for the info. And yes I would leave it stock, it is working well as is.

The tag is saying 76hp at 2500 RPM.

I appreciate the info as I am new to diesels. I may never have found that tag as the engine has been painted and the painted over the tag as well.
