Minnesota Tree Climbing

Attachment isn't working, Brian.

Great time today. Myself, Jim Steele and his son Jack, Dave Nordgaard, and Nick Grebe. Tony Annatone dropped in for breakfast.

Jim and I climbed a sugar maple... here's Jim getting set after ascending.

Jack had fun, but he didn't like the cold.

Biggest fruiting body we've ever seen. Ganoderma applanatum. Also saw what I think is a large Ganoderma lucidum body (varnished, brown top) but didn't get a photo.

Were are some good places to go Rec. Climb? I live just south of the south metro. I was up North of Eagan the other day looking down at the river bottoms it looked like there were some big Cotton Woods, but were are some of you guys climbing.

We pretty much just sneak around and find any cool, big trees. Couple of regular parks, but lately we've been getting kicked out of the high profile, open areas. Better to find an out of the way spot.

This is an open invitation to everyone: I am going to be climbing A LOT between now and ITCC. I would like help and input, and maybe a little competitive camaraderie! So, let's go climb some trees!

Im trying to plan a climb up in by Eagan down by the river but I have to do some scouting first but time is not on my side latley. But I would love to go climb but im not sure i could help you on the competitive side.

Pierce Wasmund and I were discussing a climb tomorrow (Sat. 29th) and possibly Sunday, too. Maybe we should go back to Newell and climb the Master's Tree? Or we could set up an Aerial Rescue in my yard.
