MI TCC Master’s:
1. Kevin Bingham
Kevin, as usual, was extremely innovative by using a “dual-SRT-line(s) system” with Rope Wrenches on each of 2 independent lines.
This provided a completely separate system “back-up”, in case: for example one rope was cut, or other failure, during production work.
He also used a lanyard while ringing bells in the WC & Master’s. e.g. 3 back-ups for safety.
(My description does not do his climb proper justice.)
IMO:
Kevin’s only major mistake in the Master’s was that he went first. ;-)
If he had gone last, there could have been many more “10 points” awarded.
His climb was excellent, well thought, smooth, very well controlled & fast.
2. Lucas Drews
Lucas’ work climb was spectacular. It was by far the fastest, with very elegant swings, etc, etc.
He had a very good Masters, but a couple of small bobbles (e.g. climbing line installation, efficiency, …..) gave him second place.
3. Wayne Ellison
Unfortunately, he broke a branch on the Red Oak that resulted in a DQ.
He was given the opportunity to continue the climb for experience.
He quickly decided to continue !
Honestly, his climb would have been very respectable in most other comp’s.
Wayne will be back.
