Meal Replacement

I know there's something in NJ that they sell that might be just what you're looking for mark. I tried it before and it does the trick, but I can't remember it's name, but I DO know where you can get it.

There is a store called Hess. Go in there and to the right of the cash register there is a large green display with glass doors. In there you can find what you need. Nice thing is that they come in many flavors.

Price is less than 70 cents per bag.

Let me know what you think. Oh, let me know if you remember the name. We should share this with everyone else.

Hmmm, no. That wasn't the name. I remember that it came in a wax paper bag that maybe had green and red writing on it. The name escapes me right now.

I'll try to remember it.

I keep raisins and cans of Slimfast in the truck when I'm going to be out for a while. In the winter, its pretty easy to keep them cold....but since I just slug 'em down, I've drank them warm also.

I'm definitely not a speed demon when I'm out cutting firewood, and it does get me a bit tired. Since I'm out alone, I don't feel it's a good time to 'get the wigglies'.....so I'll stop, drink one down /forum/images/graemlins/beer.gif ....and keep going. (and lots of water, of course.)

Just went out and checked the ingredients:

220 calories
2.5 g fat
5 mg cholesterol
220 mg sodium
600 mg Potassium
Total Carbohydrate 40g

10 g Protein
100% of daily Vit E&C
25%-40% of Vit A,D, K, B6, B12, IODINE,MANGANESE,MOLYBDENUM, THAMIN, NIACIN,FOLATE, BIOTIN,PHOSPHORUS, MOAGNESIUM,SELENIUM, CHROMIUM

15% OF ZINC AND IRON

Not a bad way to go. I always use the slimfast and fruit method when I run out of Myoplex. They sell it where we fuel up so it's convenient. I like it better cold, though. /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I read an article the other day that said that participants in the study who combined whey protein and casein (milk protein)before physical activity experienced far less breakdown of muscle and tissue than those that just used whey. Hmmm. I usually take it after a workout, but nice to know.

Here's what i have been doing for the last year now....

2 pieces wheat toast w/ peanut butter 6AM
Detour Bar 9AM
Apple 11:30
Tuna / salad / fruit 1:00
shake 3:30
hamburger/ baked potato / veggie 6:30

2000 calories..

times differ, but you are correct in saying that eating less, more often works..I lost 30 lbs in 4 months and am able to keep it off with this menu...

The shake is APEX whey mix Chocolate / 0.5 banana / 1 cup milk / ice
it makes me wnat one right now...the are sooooo good !!!

The Detour Bars are good too..caramel with peanut...it's the closest thing I can get to a snickers bar...and it has only 130 calories !!!

You sure are disciplined if you can stick with a routine like that. Did you stick with it and did it work for you? 2000 calories is too little for a tree guy no? You need to fuel the machine. Bringing down the calories is good but are you getting the vitamins, proteins, etc? I hope you're succeeding. If you haven't read one of my posts yet, I'll mention it here to you. I drink a soy-based drink that has about 70 ingredients with all the nourishment your body needs. It helped me with my sciatica and degenerative bones/arthritis in my back along with a list of things including major stomach issues. I feel awesome now, my health is restored, pain gone (along with 25 lbs). My friend Marie is out of her wheelchair now-she had neuromuscular diseases called distonia and sympathetic reflex distrophy that made her nerves messed up and all her muscles could only contract-serious pain. She's doing great now! This stuff is no joke..You should check it out. There are links below for more information. Let me know if you want some. They have a tasty nourishing drink and they have meal supplement drinks with oat fiber with the nourishment included in it. Best of health to you!

i used to carry met-rx and mix it in with orange gatorade. my eating hadits are pretty bad at times. no breakfast no lunch just a big dinner. sometimes i would crash in the middle of the day and buy cookies and crap and i'd snap right out of it.

when i get on my health kicks i'd have sheep milk yogurt with granola and a met-rx with soy milk for breakfast and graze on fruit during the day. i lived near a vegan restaurant and had take out from there 6 nights a week. i felt alot better doing that and had alot more energy. i try and only buy organic fruit / veggies and grass fed beef.

my new kick is is trying to eat alot of the 14 super foods. i need to drop this winter weight and get back in shape for the spring http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060535679/002-2355919-3454411?v=glance&n=283155

How about that new shake from Carnation? I been hearing about that alot on the radio. I get that same feeling too once in awhile. You do feel like your drunk and case of the mucies. I use to never eat anything for lunch. A power bar and coffee for breakfast and then I would pick up a jug of orange drink for $1. Roachy would make fun of juice lunch he had some wise crack for it!

Now that I been working NJ it seems lunch is pretty important part of the day. We get a great lunch every day.

I'm loven NJ!

Mark,

When you say you eat four times before you get home each day, does that include your MYOPLEX shakes? Do you stay at your current weight now? I am very interested in finding out the best way to go about gaining "good" weight and keep it on. I am 6'1", 165 pounds. I would like to be at 180-185. First and for most. I do NOT eat right. So, I know that is my first problem. I mostly pack my lunch, sandwich, chips, snack and drink. I would like some advice on what would be the best to eat and keep eating/drinking during the the work day.

It's not so easy to stay at a larger size if you're not predisposed to be there. I had to eat 5000 cal/day during my heavy lifting years. Now my body seems to like to be around 200 without much serious work.

The four times a day does include my daily 10:00 (or so) "shake break" that my guys love to point out! /forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
