machoen or Martin

I think there is a lot of people out there using this "knut with a wrong turn"
out there. I'm a fan of the Name. I'm pleased with it. with tenex I use five turns, with bee-line I use four. I like to use different hitches, just so they stay fresh in my muscle memory. Its a nice compact hitch and I like that part of it. It grabs real well also...I give it a

maybe the animation master treespyder could put it up for us. It might already be on his website?

I climb on it every day - and like it allot. After using most of the other hitches out there I settled on this one because it rarely slips and hardly ever tightens up too much. It works well with tenex and beeline.

I think it's called the Michoacán (after the State of the same name in Mexico) where Martin Morales the discoverer of the knot hails from :)

mahk adams does an interesting article on this particular hitch and gives tieing instruction and origin under the articles section on the buzz site

i just started climbing on this hitch, it worked really well on my ocean polyester cordage that was 10mm against my poison ivy line that is 11.7mm, the vt knot would not allow the op line to sinch up, the michoacan knot worked very well

today i tried this knot using an ice eye to eye cordage and it wouldnt sinch, nor would my vt knot, and its an 8mm line, im guessing it has something to do with the materials, i guess im stuck using beeline from here on in

happy climbing brother

What he said.

I use it, Jimmy. Do you need another reason to try it?

To pronounce it right:

Meech wah kahn

I like it a lot. I have to do a couple trial runs whenever I try a different climbing line or a different hitch cord...but i can usually get it to work perfectly.

Try it out!

I used it for a few days with tenex on velocity... very sensitive and controllable... almost too sensitive for my taste. I had to use a very light touch to slide it or it would just release. ...I'm also not 100% sure I was tying it exactly right.

I'm in friction knot limbo and this week I'm using a VT... which so far, I like a lot. Also very responsive but not quite so grabby.

Re: Michoacan

I've tried it with beeline (5/16), HRC, icetail, and ocean polyester. I have had the best luck with HRC or Beeline, usually a 6/1 or sometimes a 6/2.

Re: Michoacan

I climb on it everyday as well. Bee line on poison ivy or arbormaster rope. Orks better then distel or schwebish in my opinion..They wont stick adn then when they do they are sinched up. I also am a pretty big guy...230 so maybe that has somethign to do with it
