Largest tree in jersey.

i would have called everyone if i could but its not my job its my boss' otherwise i would have given ya a call paul, or given you the job as long as i could climb one.

mark, this thing is damn near that 146, im usually pretty good at estimateing, ive got it just shy at about 135-140, and thats not one, thats both of the ones im removing, they are the same height with about 10 others around it rivaling the size. either way, its not every day that your work area is 100ft+, at least not for me anyway. i think its the first time ive ever looked forward to working on a saturday.

ill pm riggs to see if he wants it. i dont want or need any of it i was just checking to see if anyone had some time and could stand to make a buck or two that they could come pick it up, if not its going to be cut up into 16-18inch lengths and hauled off for firewood.

its a damn shame to see such nice straight timber go to waist for firewood

I've known of a few people over the years who wanted it. Not sure that it would be of much help to you. However I know that they use poplar / tulip for filler or whater it's called. Also I do know that they want it for the most part now. Not huge money, but it is wanted wood.

Tree came up a bit short. Both measure at aprox 125ft. I'm sore. I'm tired. I'm cold. I have pictures. I'll post tomorrow.

Damn is tulip brittle, especialy when it's below 20 degrees.

I have the NJ Big Tree List around here somewhere...Here's the link to it. It's a shame they don't have it online. Here's the link to the Eastern Native Tree Society's Big Tree List (although only the circumference for NJ's biggest tulip is listed).

Hey well done Mark, glad to here it went well. Do we have the pictures yet?

Hey guys. Pics to come soon. Just have to clean them up a bit and I might even have a YouTube video if I'm lucky. The pictures of the work are a little spotty as far as the progression goes. My buddy was only there for the first bit of the first tree and we didn't have enough ground guys to record the action and fight the limbs down. I'll piece together what I can tonight. Thanks for being patient.

Besides, the treebuZz techies need to fix the photo posting before I can do anything.

How about that snow today eh? Good fun. Nothing better then blocking wood down from 80ft up using a 660 the whole way down. That damn saw weights have my body weight. I can handle a couple cuts, shoot I can even handle my 880 for a couple but 2 hours? I felt like I was being tortured. Time to bulk up I guess.
