KY TCC 2009

We have 17 climbers registered. 10 in state and 7 out of state. No women registered yet. Does anyone know if Josie or any other women climbers are thinking of competing. I hope we can have a woman represent KY at the ITCC again next year. I haven't heard from Roger yet are you coming?

I've talked to Josie's "better half" who didn't think Josie is going to climb. Don't ask me why. Another woman, Anna, who was working with us for a while (before she left for Burning Man) might climb, but I'm not for sure.

The Charlotte TCC may have a sweet belt buckle for the winner, but Kentucky's best will once again walk away with a Commemorative Louisville Slugger baseball bat announcing their achievement: Preliminary Points Winner (no matter if they're from KY or not), Mens Master Winner, and Womens Master Winner.

Did somebody say Cowbell?

Since I have this is front of me, I'd like to go ahead and thank all of the sponsors of next the Kentucky TCC, coming up next weekend.

In the order listed on the t-Shirt:

Ashland: The Henry Clay Estate
Limbwalker
Dave Leonard Consulting Arborist
The Stihl dealers of KY
David Lawyer, Tree Man
Knot and Rope Supply
Anchor Bridge Rope Works
Treemendous Tree Care
Jen Walters studio+design
Arlington Tree Service
Karl Kuemmerling
Bishop Company
Sherrill Tree
Bob Ray Company
Arbormaster

and last but certainly not least...

JZ was here too!!

Also, a big thanks to the House of Tain for donating some prizes. Unfortunately the shirts went to the screen printer ( http://www.monkeydrive.net/ ) before we found out about House's generosity.

Working on it.

I spoke to Chris the other day and expressed my regrets for not being able to come and party down with all ya'll.

I can say that I have an open mind about the whole "who's better than who" thing with Limbwalkers and Heartwood. If they ply me with enough safety meetings and libations on the beer deck, I might be convinced.....

The official EZ Accu-Arbor TCC Weather Forecast for the KYTCC:

On the day of the event, aspiring Kentucky TCC champions will wake to an unusually overcast sky. As the morning light begins to filter through the clouds, there will be talk of the impending precipitation that the local weather geeks have predicted.

Here's the good news; By the end of the day, the sun will come out. Here's the bad news; for those who like their TCCs in the low 80s, this one will be a bone-chiller. Expect temps in the low 60s to start the day, warming up to a picturesque fall day in the low 70s.

Overall, this will be an event that makes for poor quality definition in photographic documentation for the first half of the day, with the awards ceremony bathed in a warm fall glow, perfect for telephoto lenses, and candid hot lady shots (if Tree Rat is going to be there).

Sweet. Paul, make sure to copy me on all those "hot lady shots."

On the serious tip...

We have a couple of last minute sponsors that are squeaking in under the wire. Fortunately for them, the KAA is a last minute type of organization. In addition to the sponsors already listed above, the T-shirts will also list:

Treeplay

and

House of Tain

Big thanks to Roger and House for their support!

I'm leavin at 4:30AM Friday morning to beat the Chicago traffic. I'm bringin my PPE, climbing gear, binoculars, whistle. Do you need any slings, pulleys or other gear for set-up? I have a lot to choose from.
Thanks
