Kong Double Hand Ascender Backup Technique?

View attachment 41007 View attachment 41008 View attachment 41009 View attachment 41010 View attachment 41011 Although I fell in love with my Petzl Double Hand Ascender, I thought I would give the Kongs a try due to the new top plate design. I went out yesterday to play around with them and got a little stumped on backing them up, so I thought I would take some pictures and ask you guys for input. I intended to clip a couple of carabiners with split tails in each side to back up above the ascender with two blakes hitches and tether to the ascender (I also wanted to try out the webbing backup - see photo). However, as you can see in the photos, neither the Am'D or HMS Carabiner will fit through the ascender. I ended up using longer split tails and tethered all three (two split tails and ascender tether) to one carabiner on my bridge, which kind of makes the tether to the ascender pointless. Take a look at the photos and let me know if I am having a brain fart, or if I have discovered and issue that kong needs to be aware of.
