kask/ropetek comm vs peltor lite comm

Looking to buy some communication sets,
just looking for some advice on which set is better,
the kask/ropetek comm or the peltor lite comm?

thanks,
shaun

We have used the Peltor Powercom or Plus units for almost 10 years now. Think they work great. Could be less expensive though. If you know where to look though, the pricing is not too bad.

we have had the Kask/ropetek comm system on the job for 2 days now. we are already wondering how we worked before without. they are AMAZING! as bonner said "yelling is overrated" he is absolutely right. backed up a crew member to the chipper today from in the tree! (not far away and just standing on the spar but still) the manual says good for 982yds. That has to mean in wide open area once you put things between you and others things get static. for instance a city block. we love them and i got about 7 hrs on the battery life yesterday in 10-20Degree weather. These are our first comm systems so have no comparison but imo THEY ROCK! good luck,

Kieran

We have been using the Ropetek system for about three months now. They work great and have a much better price. I would recommend buying the kask helmets with the systems in place or being VERY patient and specific when installing the systems into your existing helmets. We have successfully installed these into our Petzl hats. I had the transponder(?) portion get unclipped by a Hickory twig the other day and fell at least 50' onto concrete!! I thought it was done...it still works perfect.

Range is good. battery life exceeded my expectations: 7+ hrs and they charge quickly in the morning.

For some reason, I still want to try the Peltor though

Id go with ropetek. Although we have them on petzl helmets, we have nothing but good things to say about them.

I almost bought the 2500$ eartec digicom setup, so goad i didnt.

Nick said it was in the works.

Is there a way to turn the ropetek system off temporarily so while climbing around you aren't listening the ground guy breath like darth vadet or talk with his gf on the phone?

Just push the big button on the back.
I out a Sena comm unit on my Protos. EZPZ! Now we have two Kask units and the Protos as well as a helmetless unit for the crane op.

That's hysterical! A bit TOO much communication can be a bad thing I guess.
